So their changing stances has little to no effect on the ground.

I am aware of it. Very few Indians have any spot for Kashmiri Pandits, let alone soft spot. We know that. The seculars maintained the best silence. I have no expectations from them either. They look good in the papers, writing nice speeches, feel good articles, orgasming over GDP growth and the share market. We learnt this lesson nice and hard. We also knew the State is not interested.

We have two guns, that alone is our source of protection.

1. Muslims of UP never ever vote for BJP. BJP could electorally afford to simple ignore the fact that they exist, in UP elections and frame it's strategy in order to maximize it's core votes.

2. This conversion ,which has put all mullah's and sickular people äss on fire is not wrong. Instead, this display of outrage showcase hypocrisy of Sickulars of this country. They are fine with Christian converting Hindus, but not fine with Hindus converting muslims .

3. The shit that you are seeing is something which does not exist. Even before BJP came to power, conversions were taking place, and extremists were mouthing off obscenities back then. It is media, which bereft of any real issue , is connecting government with this shit.

BJP leaders always believed that gita should be national scripture, but has it declared it as such?Remember that BJP has far more than absolute majority. If it want Gita to be national scripture in reality , rather than just making an academic point , it could easily do so by bringing forth an Ordinary member bill.

People forget that BJP ministers, including PM, are allowed to have eccentricities as long as they do not force it onto others.

Despite Modi’s appeal for calm, what the latest incidents has confirmed is that the party comprises elements whose conduct hardly meets the norms of polite society. What is worrisome is not only their medieval mindset, as is evident from the extolling of astrology at the expense of science by an MP, Ramesh Pokhriyal, “all streams of science are short in stature when compared with the science of astrology”, but that the soothing words which a few in the top rungs speak about harmonious communal relations seem to have no effect on large sections in the party.

This part is quite unfair for the ruling party and kind of intellectual dishonesty from the writer's point of view. Indian parliament has lost it's dignity decades ago.And this is not specific to any individual political party but the entire system itself. While it is true that the 'party had to extract apology from Swadhi Niranjan', it took the hon'ble speaker Mrs.Mahajan to intervene to 'extract' an apology from TMC MP Kalyan Bannerjee for his repeated extraordinarily defamatory remarks against former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri or Narendra Modi. The parliament of India no more inherits the legacies of the legendary orators like Hiren Mukherjee or Atal Bihari Bajpayee who by their own lives had set a standard of ideal political spirit.

As far as the writer's rancor against the remark of Mr.Pokhriyal or Mrs.Smriti Irani's visit to an astrologer is concerned, Mr.Ganguly seems to live in some fool's paradise himself. If astrology is a superstition to him, the entire opposition quarter in the parliament is merged into it in their private lives. Even the staunch hard communists in the capital are often found to be visiting astrologers or temples, least to say breaking coconuts in any sort of inauguration has become a national practice in this country. What Mr.Ganguly is thinking of that?
