This part is quite unfair for the ruling party and kind of intellectual dishonesty from the writer's point of view. Indian parliament has lost it's dignity decades ago.And this is not specific to any individual political party but the entire system itself. While it is true that the 'party had to extract apology from Swadhi Niranjan', it took the hon'ble speaker Mrs.Mahajan to intervene to 'extract' an apology from TMC MP Kalyan Bannerjee for his repeated extraordinarily defamatory remarks against former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri or Narendra Modi. The parliament of India is no more inherits the legacies of the legendary orators like Hiren Mukherjee or Atal Bihari Bajpayee who by their own lives had set a standard of ideal political spirit.
As far as the writer's rancor against the remark of Mr.Pokhriyal or Mrs.Smriti Irani's visit to an astrologer is concerned, Mr.Ganguly seems to live in some fool's paradise himself. If astrology is a superstition to him, the entire opposition quarter in the parliament is merged into it in their private lives. Staunch hard communists in the capital are often found to be visiting astrologers or temples, least to say breaking coconuts in any sort of inauguration has become a national practice in this country. What Mr.Ganguly is thinking of that?
