WIKILEAKS: Leaked diplomatic cables reveal that China is ready to abandon North Korea

.
Of course, the best way is to keep NK alive, if the crazy father and son want to commit suicidal acts, what China should do then? China can't babysit them for everything.

As i said, in the worst scenario, China can occupy the nothern part of NK as a "buffer zone" before they completely fall into the hand of US.

And we are not ready to confront US yet, it is not the time.

To keep the NK alive is the only option that China has. There is no other way out.

China can't risk letting the NK regime collapse because once that happens SK will take over and delcare an unification of Korea Peninsula.

If NK falls apart and SK takes over, China has no legitimacy to occupy northern part of NK as a "buffer zone". NK as a whole is the "buffer zone", if we abandon NK then we lost the "buffer zone".

Abandon the crazy Kims, maybe. But abandon NK, impossible.

.
Exactly right.

In the worst case scenario, we can occupy a buffer zone in the northern part of NK. In the long-run though... a United Korea will not need (or be able to justify) American military presence, and we can finally get them off the Asian mainland.

China needs another decade or so of economic/military development before we can afford to go head-on with the USA. And even then it's not economically advisable, it is best to just beat them economically.
There will be no 'United Korea' but just Korea. And if there are any justifications for an American military presence, those justifications will not be to China but to the Korean people. If your speech here is typical of China's belligerence and contemptuous attitude to the rest of Asia, then the US will be in Korea for a very long time.

I've thought about that China should help some moderate members within the worker party to overthrow Kim, but that would be direct interference within another country's sovereignty, not China's style. However, in a critical situation, maybe we can't think too much about.

But it seems that the Chinese think tanks favor the occupation of the nothern part of NK.

Well it will be a pre-condition to China accepting a United Korea, i.e. the eventual removal of all American military presence from the peninsula.

Otherwise there is no chance of China supporting it, and North Korea will be kept as a buffer state. What other nations think is up to them, it's none of my business.

I'm waiting to see what Kim Jong-Il will be like. There is a chance (I think) that he might turn out to be more reasonable than his father. Or at least it might be easier to pressure him.

Removal? China does not have the power to 'remove' US from Korea. It is too late. The proverbial cat is out of the bag that China is no longer in love with North Korea. Pressing issues like economic stabilization and growth will dominate over on how to pressure Seoul and the US to a withdrawal from the Korean peninsula. Might as well ask the Japanese to do the same and good luck with that. Short of invading North Korea and take over the country as a vassal and contributory state like feudal times, China will lose NKR.

Like I said before, if you could have, you would have. :azn:

Your own national leaders are coming and asking China for help regarding North Korea.

As usual, you seem to have the exact opposite view to the US government.

The same argument could be applied to China, that you tried to take over the Korean peninsula and you failed. If we ask China for anything regarding the region, it is to maintain stability over the failed state called 'North Korea' that is under Beijing's control. We do not need China's help in reunifying the two Koreas back into one. So Beijing needs to make up its mind now that the world knows China kicked NKR out of bed as to when the divorce is final.

China did not enter the Korean war to take over the Korean peninsula, what kind of history are you reading.

If you want a repeat of the Korean war (while you "also" happen to be in the process of getting your * whooped by a couple of Taliban with AK-47's) then go ahead.

It's your OWN national leaders that are coming to China and asking for help with North Korea. Take it up with them.

US didn't take over Cuba because they(neo-cons) have more sanity than an internet nutjob like you.

The real kind. Not the propaganda crap Beijing feeds you.

Actually, it is US who is doing the kicking in Afghanistan. We are tired of doing it. But we are still doing it.

It's your OWN national leaders that are coming to China and asking for help with North Korea. Take it up with them.
Correct...Helping to put to sleep the mangy cur called 'North Korea'. Apparently China wants to do the same but with some face saving grace.

There you go, your own national leaders are coming to China and asking/begging for help with regards to North Korea.

So go and tell them to stop it. :azn:
