give it time, took the West almost 2000 years to match China, don't we at least get 2 or 3 hundred.
Also in terms of national power, the difference is far less.
For example, an American soldier gets about 1,000 dollars give or take and a thousand or more joining.
Chinese volunteers soldiers have a 2 year term, then they go back to school, be it college or trade school(which actually is getting more popular lately). Relatively they get paid, what 90 dollars a month?
NCOs get paid a lot more, but still a little bit less for an entry level, maybe 50-100 dollars less per month than an American soldier.
So while yes, US has more per say, but it's far cheaper in China. Let's look at what this money can do in a second string city. 1,000 you can rent a place for 400-500, then eat for about a month, though I'm not sure how far 400 dollars will go in a month, I know just a pack of Chicken wings frozen will cost 20 dollars.
In China, 300 Yuan can rent a small one bed room apartment in a second string city, while eating for another 300 is enough for food. Meat is "more" expensive, but if eating healthy, you can easily have 50-80 yuan left over.
Now what does that tell you, even at 10x less money we can live at about the same level as an American.
What's the difference, I think branded things, while it's far easier for an American to afford a iPhone, it will be next to impossible for a Chinese of the same caliber, but then that's what Xiaomi is there for.
