Two Bangladeshi students were gunned down allegedly by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Khoshalpur border under Maheshpur upazila in Jhenidah on Tuesday morning.

The victims are Shohel Rana, 16, a student of Bakoshpota Secondary School and son of Shahidul Islam of Khoshalpur, and Harunur Rashid, 15, a student of Shamkur Secondary School and son of Kawsar Ali of Shyamkur in the upazila.

Locals said the killings took place around 9am when the duo were trying to enter India illegally.

When contacted, Deputy Commander of 58 Border Guard Bangladesh unit Jasim Uddin and Ahmedul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur police station, said they are aware of the incident.

These stories are legend in Bangladesh. Everyone knows about Kolkata kanjoosi habits. Even their shopping bags are micro-sized unlike in Bangladesh or the rest of the world for that matter.

There was this property owner in Kolkata who had two cars parked in the New Alipore driveway. Even then he'd take the tram out twenty miles away to collect rent. That's how cheap dadas are.

Kids crossing the border cannot automatically be thought as 'seeking better life in India'. You are being a bit too 'self-congratulatory'......

Maybe it was a stupid bet or a dare. We will never know.

When we start doing this to Indians on our side, then maybe your govt. will sit up and take notice....

First you have to make the (absolute neutral) case that these two was shot on first sight with absolutely no warning and provocation (which media never has access to fact wise).

Many times illegals and smugglers carry weapons and have injured and killed BSF personnel (and border civilians on Indian side too), so the border area people should know better how BSF treats the border situation in particular areas.

This philosophy would extend to all other border areas of India. Pakistan and China just do not have a critical mass of civilians engaged in smuggling (including smuggling themselves) in close proximity with the same level of porosity prevalent (IND-BD border)...hence fewer Pakistanis are killed (and those that do tend to be actual terrorist infiltrators which come under different ambit)...and 0 Chinese are killed more or less.

Of course where possible, given the situation, India would prefer capture and return compared to shooting (and hence we see examples of this many times a year in say IND - PAK international border and even LoC)....but the situation in criminal hotspots is what it is (LoC infiltration routes, BD-IND border portions), BSF has to put its own security first and foremost.

In the end, like I said, its not rocket science for BD civilians to give these spots on the border a wide berth.

BD is also welcome to enforce such from its end where it locates such hotspots, but BD probably knows they will just end up shooting mostly BD people returning to BD....let's face the reality here.

আর আমাদের হয় সাদা পতাকা বৈঠক।

এর আগে নেপালের ইন্টারনাল বিষয়ে ইন্ডিয়ার নাক গলানোর প্রতিবাদে সকল নেপালি কেবল অপারেটররা ইন্ডিয়ান চ্যানেল বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিল। তাতে কোন নেপালি গৃহবধু আত্মহত্যা অবশ্য করে নাই।

টুইটারে নেপালিজরা একের পর এক টুইট করে BackoffIndia হ্যাশট্যাগ কে ট্রেন্ডিং টপিক্স এ তুলে এনেছে। ইন্ডিয়ান পি এম নরেন্দ্র মোদীর টুইটার আইডিতেই টুইট হয়েছে ১লক্ষ ৮০হাজার বার্। নেপালিজদের করা কয়েকটা টুইট ছিল

দিস ইজ কলড হ্যাডম। এর মানে এই না যে নেপাল ইন্ডিয়ার থেকে শক্তিশালী। ইন্ডিয়ায় যত মানুষ আছে নেপালের উপর দিয়া হাইটা গেলেও নেপাল মাটির সাথে মিশে যাবে। কিন্তু তারপরও নেপালিজরা সবাই মিলে দেখিয়ে দিয়েছে,ওরা দুর্বল হতে পারে ওরা ছোট হতে পারে কিন্তু ওদের এই ছোট দেশটার সম্মান বজায় রাখার মত বড় কলিজা ওদের আছে।

আজকে নেপালিজরা যা করে দেখাচ্ছে ফেলানী হত্যার পর আমরা তা করে দেখাতে পারতাম। কিন্তু আমরা পারিনি। আমাদের অনেক বুদ্ধিজীবি আছে। তেনারা কিছু করার আগে দশদিক ভাবেন। এইটা হইলে ওইটা হইবোনা ওইটা হইলে এইটা হইবোনা এমন হইলে কেমন হইব। ভাগ্যিস এতো বুদ্ধিজীবী একাত্তরে ছিলনা। তাহলে যুদ্ধ করব চিন্তা করতেই করতেই দিন পার হইয়া যাইত। দেশ আর স্বাধীন হইতোনা। নেপালের বেশিরভাগ বানিজ্য কিন্তু ইন্ডিয়ার সাথে হয়। তাই বইলা তারা কিন্তু বইসা থাকেনি। কারণ তারা জানে, তারা বিনা পয়সায় কিছু নেয় না। সো ঠেকাও নাই কারো কাছে। আর এমন না যে বানিজ্য বন্ধ হইয়া গেলে ভারতের ক্ষতি হইবোনা। ক্রেতা না কিনলে দোকানদারেরও ভাত মরে।

প্রতিবাদ করার জন্য শক্তির দরকার হয়না, নিজেদের উপর বিশ্বাস আর সাহসের দরকার হয়। নেপালিজরা প্রমাণ করেছে সে বিশ্বাস আর সাহস তাদের আছে। সরি টু সে বাংলাদেশীরা সেটা প্রমাণ করতে পারেনি।

বাই দা ওয়ে স্বাধীনতা ততক্ষণই থাকে যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত মেরুদন্ড থাকে।

The only regret is we still haven't shown the Dadas what we could do maximum. Our young generation has fallen in trap of Facebook thus we dont see the protest on roads we used to see during liberation war or 90's. Chanting in social media would result in nothing but a protest around Indian embassy could. But always hopeful about the future. Things will change. Let the BGB finish their honeymoon period and renaissance of Bengali fightback against oppressors throughout the history.
