There is nothing brave about it. It is intelligent politics and a sign that Kashmiris are gearing up for a much more adept "battle" against/with the Indian state. Essentially, they have realized that they have to make their wishes work within the framework of the India state.. much as the Congress and ML did with the British Empire. Use the sensibility of the state, the ideals of democracy.. to force the Indian state to give them what they want...which may not be independence if certain Pakistanis or Indians are befooled into thinking: How does that song go? "Na biwi na bacha.."

Dont think everyone here is simple enough not to understand BJP in Kashmir Valley. BJP has won their seats in Jammu DIstrict only and only in those areas where Hindus are Majority while PDP won Seats in Kashmir as well as Jammu(In Muslim Majority Areas in Jammu) while NC is now mostly begged their Success in Ladakh Muslim Region like Kargil and Congress is limited to Leh and other Budhist Regions. That is the real picture here. Their were some Vote divide between PDP and NC in few parts of Kashmir and Jammu. The reason is that his party’s alliance with the BJP isn’t very popular in Kashmir and he wants the focus to shift to something that shows him as stronger than the BJP in his core constituency. So Mufti must tread carefully and stop his shenanigans from now on or he'll be sitting at home without a portfolio.

So it was the response that Indian Govt. and BJP asked for and Kasmiris deliver. Things would be Quite if they never touched the sensitive Article 370 which could led to favorable outcome for BJP but they blew it and made it worse. This is what Mufti wants! Simple! Force BJP to withdraw the support. He will come out as martyr, who sacrificed his Govt. against the might and power of Hindu Nationalist BJP and not compromised his ideology as kashmiri.

He is aiming is to Decimate politics of National Conference as well as politics of Congress and project himself as only political beacon who stands for kashmiri people.

He is aiming for mid term elections. As per the number game he will be able to do that. He has also factored in Presidents Rule which will come after the fall of this Govt. With every progressing day PDP will become more hard both in words and actions.

Slowly bit by bit he is setting his political tone as "Muslim" against "Hindu". Muslims are all the muslims be it kashmiri, Gujjars and Bakkarwals. He is aiming to win seats in muslim majority areas of both Jammu and Laddakh.

He will project, Hindus of Jammu are coming in the way of kashmiri dreams. And neither he cares for them. We all know now kashmiris are now compelled to vote in elections, they cannot boycott the elections. Because this elections has shown that if kashmiries do not vote, Hindus will send BJP in full numbers from Jammu and BJP will form the govt. and decide the fate of kashmiris.

Bloody and tough days ahead and we must accept that PDP has used BJP. And shown that BJP is fool in thinking that they will befriend with muslims.

Kindly note happenings of kashmirs will have a prfound effect on psyche of muslims all around India. But it is a separate issue.

To save its face BJP should immediately resign from the Govt., as well as to save the situation from getting out of hand, in kashmir.

You are right man, J&K is going for the divide on Hindu - Muslim line. And this is what Indians are not able to accept, they are in denial mode. May God help them.
