Why Migs Have Shorter Shelf life ?

Well he Meant Thunder is Better than LCA when he passed that comment.... Comeon grow Up, dont reply to such Childish Comments

And i thanked him for tht and being an indian and displaying Pakistani Flag too.

So before advising others to grow up... go look straight, conprehend and Grow up.
Thanks.

I am being bit confused with what you have written, if you see SU 30 MKI, Mirage 2000 or Mig 29 or even Jaguar they don't have too bad attrition rate :undecided: :undecided:
Then tell me why Russian Migs and Chinese and Pakistani F 7 (Based on Mig21) dont have same crash rate as Migs of India.....

There are maintenance problems.

That is why I said I am confused in my previous comment, MIG 21,23,27 pilots are crashing too many planes whereas SU 30, Mig 29, Jaguar, Mirage 2000 are crashing less and if you notice the latter type of aircrafts are more advanced and if India is lacking advanced trainer than the problem is for both types.

I think maintenance, age and spare parts are the main problems, feel free to disagree.

P.S I know Mig 23 is retired

There is the 40% pilot error as per an indian report.

Chinese F7 production started in 1980s, Russian Mig 21 production stopped in 1985. Indian Mig 21s range from 1964 to 1984. F7 in PAF are relatively new.

Dude,

that's a lot of planes being lost.

I guess IAF should immediately retire all MIG 27s. No point in continuing to operate.

I wonder if the SU30 have had the proper Metallurgical studies done on their airframes.

I also noticed that..... this tells us volumes of Teja's failure.

Another beautiful part is pilots are dying today but a/c will be retired in 2020.
I bet most of those a/c would be grounded till 2015.

You can't compare F-7PG with mig 21!

I was just answering mjnaushad's question, that why Indian mig 21s crash a lot more than F-7, when they have same design. Simple, Indian migs are way too old, among other issues, compared to F-7.

There are many design modifications in airframe as well.
F-7pg may have inspired from Russian mig-21 but both cannot be compared as carbon copy.

They should replace them with LCA.

If u ask me , then that will happen in due course
Now considering the fact that IAF operate 120 MiG 21 Bisons and 48+6 Mig21 Bis ,thats 9 sqds in all , it is not possible to retire them at once
Last yr and this yr Iaf have retired 2 mig21 sqds each while 2 Su30Mki sqds have been inducted during that period resulting in decline in number of Sqds from 34 to 32 sqds.
The 3 Mig21bis sqds will be retired by 2012 ,while during that period 2 more Su30mki Sqds and one LCA sqds will be inducted. The remaining 120 odd Bisons will be retire in a phased manner by 2017

Indian Ministry Of Defence has placed an order for 48 LCA MK1 and 100 LCA MK2 For the Airforce
While Navy Will Acquire 20 LCA N ,with an option of 20 more aircrafts

As Far as Regarding Mig27 is concerned ,IAF will begin retiring them in 2012 and the 43 Mig27upg (ie 32 fighters+11 trainers) may continue till 2020

PS: It is interesting to note that the aircraft which actually replaces the mig 21 is actually the Su30Mki , 270 of which have been ordered
considering the fact that India operated 450 of them when there production ended in 1984 , while NumBer of LCA on order has fallen from 220 Aircrafts TO 148 For the Airforce and from 40 aircraft to 20 in the Navy , which is mainly due to delay which has resulted in increase in order for Su30Mki and Mig29K
