What's new

Why is Pakistan not developing like many countries

Doing better? Not really.. Pakistan is top 10 most strongest country on earth and many would atleast exchange that and admire that.

We have done well for ourselves in a hostile region and become strong on the land within it.

We are unapologetic about who we are and our values are non-negotiable we respect other peoples decision nor do we seek to interfere with them...

Government need to build strong nationality to united the country. Nationalism need to take proritise over reglion.

It is becos of emphasize on religion and less emphasize on national identity. Various enthic issue and separatism strived. With a strong nationa identify, citizen will united and work towards the aim of building a stronger nation.
When we focused on nationalism we lost half of Pakistan. What works for your doesn't work for us. If we promote nationalism trust it won't remain limited to being Pakistani.

I respectfully disagree with your entire reasoning because it is against the norm of history and logic. It all started from the TOP in Pakistan, and the rest of the sheep just followed. And this applies to all corrupt societies with history as a proof to it. Corrupt leaders corrupt everyone, successful leaders induce success.

Im not religious even though i have strong belief in islam but according to Islam people will have same rulers as themselves. So curropt rulers for corrupt people.

Yaar u sound like a 16 year old jazbati bacha.
Pakistan has million faults that needs to be fixed instead of covering it up with blind patriotism which cause more damage then good.
Not really many Muslim countries have low fertility rate

The "kind" of Islam we preach in Pakistan is toxic in every sense of the word
Even most rational, very practicing Muslims say that

Islamic thaught in Pakistan needs reforms- cause rn it's backwards and anti-human progress

Im saying the same thing but u r saying not really.

While most of you're referring to Pakistan's population as some kind of a manna from heaven, please understand that concept is called demographic dividend. And you get this 'return on investment' only when your population is well educated or highly technically able, in order to operate in the modern world and to be able to make money for the state. In our case, it's neither. The majority of our nation is neither educated (let alone highly educated), nor technical (let alone highly technically able).

What we have are hundreds of millions of mouths, more joining the number every year that the state is falling under its own weight to support. The state is failing to generate enough revenue to pay for something as simple as gov pensions and is currently looking at venues to curtail that. We don't make enough food on our own, to feed our populace (hence the current import fuelled food inflation). We do not educate them enough, hence the lack of economic opportunities and opening of door to dogmatic institutions funded by outsiders that turn our populace into one-track ponies. We lack law and order, and operate different versions of the Pakistani law for the rich and poor, hence the difference in the lives of haves and have nots - is extremely visible within the country. And above all, over time, most venues that allowed upward social mobility for working classes have been taken away from them (other than within armed forces) - thus restricting masses within the poverty cycle.

Thus the only Pakistanis that are able to educate themselves enough or are trained enough, do not wait to leave Pakistan. This is the reason why.

These actions do not turn a large population into a demographic dividend, if anything it's a ticking bomb of people who are desperate, without chances in life and without opportunities to be better than their previous generations.

One majority ethnic group which u r talking about is actually the most suppressed majority anywhere in the world. Punjab grows 95% of essential food commodities... which we consume locally and export. Textile , pharmaceuticals, sports equipment are our major exports which are all produced in Punjab. GDP contribution of punjab vs what is spent on Punjab is seriously on short we literally feed all other provinces with food and money... the myth that Karachi collects 70% of revenue is false as Karachi because of its port is like a checkout counter of all export s and imports duties. But those export commodities are all produced in punjab. Coming to the subject. We tends to forget that for last 35 years we have been part of a war in one way or the other.. Ours is literally a war torn economy. No matter we like it or not it would take 2 3 decades of consistent effort to turn it around. I hope we are wise enough as a nation to be patient and persistent. the other menace that we have right now is corruption in all institutions. This thing is an existential crisis. If we failed to curtail it there is a risk Pakistan might seize to exist. that's a major threat right now

Punjab has all the resources and dominates all sectors why? domination by ethnic group. Sorry but this ethnic has proven to be bad leadership time for complete change. Azad kashmir brings revenue from abroad but it is just hills with jangli ppl living there, no real industry. Islamabad we dont count that as ours as it is dominated by other ethnic Pakistanis which we are unfamiliar with and resent.
Agreed, while on the face of it, population grow is a burden for people sharing limited infrastructure, it is beneficial to the economy and a valuable resource that if managed properly can produce the demographic dividend developed countries hoped they had.

The best comparison is Europe versus America. The Europeans aren’t having enough kids and are facing bleaker economic prospects while the Americans have the millennials, a young population that can keep the economy going, despite the ever higher cost of living for the average American millennial.

If the economy starts developing, people will naturally want to have less kids so they can better prepare few kids, for a more complex economy. In a simple and/or Agrarian economy, the more unskilled labor the better.

“Family planning” should not be forced into he people as it can cause unexpected side effects if done to well, as in East Asian and western nations.

On the original topic, of why the country is backwards is a general lack of adequate management and limited rule of law.

We have only partially lived up to the national Motto: “Faith, Unity, DISCIPLINE”

If we invite experts to do a root cause analysis of each and every department, IMHO, they will recommend many changes, but will our elected officials have the will to make the changes. Decades of failing to do such has allowed other economies to leapfrog us and take away our market share in industries where we had an advantage, and we may never be able to gain back that share as those other countries make technological advances to stay ahead. It may only be with greater and greater human capital costs we may be able to catch up in some areas. This is why we need our growing population.

John Nash the Nobel prize winning mathematician said that we must do what is best for ourself AND the group for the most optimal outcome. This was his equilibrium/ Game theory.

no PlayStation or computer or so uncle gets to do one thing play the wife all day. he needs 9 to 5 job and pay taxes he be too tired to play just on weekends.

Overpopulation and corruption are not reason for lack of progress for Pakistan economy.

China in the 90s and early 2000s are mostly corrupted too. Officers are easily bribe , connection are important and yet they are the important catalyst for rapid country development and growth. Land from peasant can be acquired with little cost to facilitate important industries growth.

What makes this work is national identity. Even the officers are corrupted, they all work towards the same goal of produced result and increase the country living standard.
I think you haven't seen our officers. You can see their tummy and you can laugh. Bro you must visit Pakistan and see for yourself. Islamic republic of Pakistan is providing cover to corrupt. Without corruption, I don't see my country going forward. some years ago, China gifted dustbin. They put dustbin on fire so that garbage inside can burn hahaha. Some are stolen. You don't know this country. No ethics, no social values, no humanity. barbarians everywhere.
So is pandering to the idea that somehow the elite are responsible for the ills and everyone else are hapless innocent lambs in front of them. There is a system serving the elite so what? You tolerate it!
They are everywhere. You can't stop them. They run our country and they get sympathy. Even the people living abroad and different foreign Governments have an idea of this situation and they laugh. What else can they do? I laugh as well. sometimes this laugh reflects joy and sometimes sorrow. our country is in miserable condition. Pakistan should at least stop calling this system Democratic. this is like an insult. this is basically jungle rule where big animal eats small animal. Big animal takes money so that other sharks can enter and eat meat hahaha. I mean it's laughable. We haven't learn anything from Bangladesh situation. look at Baluchistan! It's miserable. Even after deal with Taliban, TTP continues attack. Yesterday we lost 2 soldiers. People die daily during robbery on roads. No law and order. Nobody is promoted on the basis of merit. Everybody gets job because they have some hidden links, sources. this is like a joke. A country can't progress like this.

No law here Law's are made only for poor people thats why Pakistan is developing country

Pakistan is developing but at its own pace. The massive population is an asset un-utilized. It needs to be put to work. There is no other significant asset/resource to put to use. Population has to be educated, put into technical, vocational trades and help drive GDP.

Population is burden not asset. Because increase in population decreases the per capita availability of natural resources

Average annual population growth rate of Pakistan is close to 3 percent which means Pakistan adds 6 million people every year. Population of Turkmenistan is 6 million and there are many countries whose population is less than 6 million

Try to speak about this with the Japanese and South Koreans about decreasing population un-naturally by limiting child births.. It backfired massively don't come in here and spew something that has been tried and failed.. Even ask the Chinese one child policy how it unfolded eventually... They will answer you from experience atleast..

Do research on this convo and angle first because you are going for an old convo and it is so 2000ish and 2010-ish this has been tried and failed..

Un-natural suppresing of population growth has nasty cascade effects and you want none of that. You are way out of the loop I see...

Pakistan might not even survive the ugly cascade effect that would ensue if the natural population growth was suppressed and halted...

Try to speak about the Chinese about this start a
If population of China was growing like Pakistan today population of China would be more than 3 billion. China with 3 billion plus population would be worse than India

.
Pakistan has only one problem and that is overpopulation but no politician speaks about this problem. Overpopulation is mother of all other problems

In 1950s and 60s population of France Germany and UK was higher than Pakistan in 2021 Pakistan is 4 times more populated than these countries.

Population of India was more than 10 times higher than Pakistan in 50s and 60s today it is only 7 times higher than Pakistan

Population growth from 1951 to 2017
