Just to clarify. The S-300 is not giving the Israelis nigntmares, i would say that it is causing a irritaion in their plans. Though the S-300 is a very potent system the limited deployment in Iran will only mean that the Israelis will suffer some losses. Which they dont want to, so they are lobbying with Russia not to sell these systems to Iran. Surprisingly they have been rather successful in stalling the delivery of these systems till date.

Isreal remains very capable of hitting Iranian nuclear sites. The presence of the S-300 many fold increases the probability of a few Israeli losses. Thats certainly no nightmare for Isreal, but it is for Iran.

I think lack of budget should not be the crushing blow to any kind of R&D. It dose not always require to spend a truck load of money to get something done. But you definitely need a lot of good grey matter. Once you start getting results from your R&D then you need money to reach Excellence.

The basic underlying reason for not having great SAM or ABM is the lack of good industrial base which again is worsened by the lack good brains and again by the lack of trust in the ones who have great brains.

And the people saying ABM is worthless, I would ask would you like to get completely drenched in rain or would you take an umbrella even when you know that your shoes still get wet?

Pakistani members keep surprising me. In other threads they never get tired of stating that Pakistan is way ahead of India in "Missile Tech", but in this thread there seems to be a virtual admission of the exact opposite.
