Exactly that; but it doesn't mean we're going to do it. A strong deterrence is required to fend of against large, unpredictable nations such as the US. Israel 'conveniently' happens to be the most important nation for Uncle Sam.

America has threatened Pakistan with dire consequences once, I am aware that USA is a super power and we are no match to them militarily, but having ICBM's, that can reach USA will certainly consolidate our position vis-à-vis American's. I feel that is highly unnecessary, how do the Israelis reach us? We don't share a common border or access by sea, they would have to fly over thousands of kilometres of hostile territory to get to us and they have no conflict with us. It would be wasted investment, though there is an active ICBM program, it's more immediate focus is to allow us to launch satellites into orbit by ourselves. Which I believe is a much more worthwhile pursuit.

Technologies such as ICBM does not materialize on just current threats - these technologies are also developed keeping in find about all possible future threats for whatever reasons.

So the point is inspite of not sharing a border and not having a conflict with Israel - does your policy makers view Israel as a possible threat ? General sentiments across this forum is generally anti israel and there is definetly no love lost when it comes to Israel and you. Can these emotions influence your policy makers - Pakistan has known to make some choices in the past which has defied logic. Based on what i know - Pakistani's do consider Israel a threat.

So doesnt that justify the development of ICBM ?

You are grossly over-estimating..No world war will happen. If US ever attacks you - it wont be generally without preparation. The world media shall first paint you in a bad picture - making sure that you dont have any support - even over chinese support. And then the attacks will follow.

Doesn't really matter if we have support or not; but ICBMs are extremely important in making sure something like that doesn't happen.

I absolutely love US because of the way they treat people - and it really is a free country based on a strong foundation. Its a role model if you want to ever emulate a country and how to treat your own citizens with respect and dignity.

Having said that their policies leaves much to be desired. I cannot understand those - and it defies logic sometimes....

But can the US openly declare war and openly attack us as they did to Afghanistan or Iraq?
Besides, it's not 'Pakistan can't do anything about it', it's 'Pakistan's current weak leadership is more into money than national interests, hence they don't want to do anything about it'.

I absolutely love US because of the way they treat people - and it really is a free country based on a strong foundation. Its a role model if you want to ever emulate a country and how to treat your own citizens with respect and dignity
