japan does not need nuclear subs, they need just enough to cruise in the south china sea, the pacific and diesel subs are quiter.

South China Sea is far from Japan. Yes, the AIP Submarine can go there. But without a base, they can't fight efficiently and challenge China's superiority. Plus, Japan will needs all their subs in their home front, as if a confrontation happen, it is their priority to protect. They just simply lack the number of AIP Subs to match China's Subs number, and open a wide front is not wise for them. So, Vietnam and Philippine shouldn't depend to Japan too much to defend their ***. You can only expect to buy their military wares. Well, if you can afford a large number of them. So, what are you waiting for, just open your wallet and do crazy shopping, or it will be too late

There're too many submarines in SCS already, US, Australia, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia ...
I think Japanese never care about send more subs to SCS ...

SSNs reactor noise is to be expected just as any SSNs from the US because of the noise associated with cooling down the reactor. We will used SSNs to escort and as attack submarine and used AIPs for tracking and spying mission. We got both in our arsenal, more AIPs than SSNs but we are building more SSNs for our aircraft carrier. SSN is like a heavy fighter and AIP is the little foot solider . It's a huge whale.

Then, what is the purpose of forming an alliance then? Now, just thinking, your alliance with Pinoy and Japan benefit is only at solidarity level at best. If a conflict with China arise, it will give you more trouble than benefit. Why? Because with their limited number of high tech naval, Japan will focus on their homefront than coming to help you in South China Sea, while Pinoy won't be able to help you at all. They don't have anything to help. Yet, with this alliance you have obligation to help Pinoy if they are attacked by China. Thus, this will spread your naval capability. Because the ships that supposely protect your shore will have to go to Pinoy to help them. And that is bad for you. Without Pinoy, you will fine; but with Pinoy, you will have a widen theater of war to defend.

So what is the purpose then? If the only reason for this alliance is to invite USA to protect you, why not just come to USA and bow to them and ask for their protection instead? It will give you more benefit than become an alliance with Pinoy. Or, you can stick on your traditional, but more trustworthy ally in the north; Russia. They helped you in the past, and they will help you again in the future.

To tell the truth, you will have more benefit if you form an alliance with India and Russia rather than Japan and Pinoy. It will help you much-much better and make Vietnam stronger.

From what i've seen on TV and internet i would say Japanese people are not aggressive towards China or Asia in general but rather they believe in Asian power. They would like to see a future dominated by asia. So i see an asian union coming in the future rather than contention between asian countries.
