Why does Pakistan have an affinity for Turkey?

You and I both know there was nothing wrong with my posts in the other thread. But the whole incident inspired me to look deeper into this question.
You mean the post about China's greatness on a thread where we were issuing a ban on another topic? It is called trolling and also going off topic!

I can't say I completely understand it (and the people kind enough to reply to my thread haven't, by and large, said much beyond affirming their warm feelings toward Turkey), but I think there's a decent enough analogy. As a Canadian, I'm meant to feel a similar warmth and affinity to Britain as the "mother country." As you might have guessed, I don't share that sentiment. Surprisingly, even Americans feel it, and they fought tooth and nail to get rid of British control.
You are not Canadian...You are as Chinese as they come...Canadian will not blindly support Britain if the "mother country" does some ill!

. .
some of the Muslim rulers of ancient India were of Turkic origin. Hence the affinity with anything turkish
But suprisely they have nothing Turkish as they speak Iranian and practice Iranian culture.

Just like Manchurian who celebrate Chinese new year, speak Chinese mandarin , write Chinese Hans but can't speak a single manchurian. Do u consider them real Manchurian?

I thought Pakistanis shall be closer to Iran.

Yeah you're a chinese hacker bot from Chinese cencorship ministry CONFIRMED
I'm honestly interested to learn more about this history. Because if its support for "100 years" (Pakistan only came to existence in 1947, so how are they 100 years?), China has supported Pakistan much more extensively than Turkey. China supplied Pakistan with its nuclear deterrent, without which it would have been annexed by India.

.
Well, you say that, my passport says different.
Ahh..your passport says you are Canadian...but you will still be called Asian...Chinese...so still Chinese!
Or do you hate being Chinese so much you proclaim yourself as Canadian?

If China is so great as you love to propagate....why are you with Canadian passport?

The Turkic tribes that conquered Northern India were from Central Asia. I do not know their relationship with Persia or Persian culture.

I will gladly write a short history and reasons for our love for tukey .And its people. Kinda sleepy at this moment. Will take long.

Iran is a close nation yes has more in common with us but the few differences we have with them out weigh the commonalities. While with turks its opposite.

Also every pakistani idealises turkey. If they don't make trouble for china i would have nothing against them and everything for them.

I have a few questions for the Pakistani members here. I've noticed in my time here that a lot of Pakistani members have a (to me) strange affinity and cultural closeness to Turkey. I can't say if it's something that generalizes since I don't know many Pakistanis and their views about Turkey have never come up in conversation. So, my first question is is this affinity widespread among Pakistanis?

This bonhomie is something that I've noticed runs deeper than just affinity for a fellow Sunni Muslim state. For instance, I've never noticed Pakistanis here express similar feelings for Morocco or Algeria. Maybe Saudi Arabia, but that's more explainable by the large Pakistani diaspora there, its wealth and support of Pakistan, and its custodianship of Islam's holy sites. Turkey can't be explained in this way. What, in your opinion, is the reason for this closeness?

Also, and this has irked me somewhat, I see Turkish armaments held in higher esteem here than they should be. Pakistanis here seem to view them as equal, or superior to, Chinese weapons. That's simply false - Chinese weapons are more technologically advanced and far more price competitive. The only exceptions to this (and only on the technology front) are when Turkish manufacturers partner with European ones - in which case Pakistan is just buying the European stuff by proxy.

Turkey doesn't give Pakistan any special financial, diplomatic, or military support. Why the love?
Umm.. No Pakistani loves Turkey.

Turkey is just another Muslims country who Pakistan has no cultural ties with.

I think of Turks in neutral terms.

China only cares for $$$$
Turks are true to their Turkic nations and those whom they perceive as brothers.

Ummm...No...

No Pakistani idealizes Turkey.

Usually Pakistani finds it easier to relate to Mughals and the Sultans of Delhi.

Expatriate Pakistanis are a confused bunch.

That is our culture.

What is this stupid thread.

Pakistanis do not have an affinity for Turkey.

Turkey is just another Muslim country for Pakistanis.
