Why did Afghan pashtuns sold their land for few British gold coins?

So the question is why did Afghan pakhtun signed permanent durrand line agreement for few British gold coins? Its because they accepted the fact that FATA and KPK pashtuns will not support them anymore so lets make some quick bucks?

But even then they could have continued with status quo without signing any agreement and not selling their brethen to British empire.

Good question. Barakzais were monarches, they didnt represented the wishes of general afghan population.
They were weak , the country was de-centralized and tribes were not paying taxes. They not only lost areas to british but also lost large areas to russian empire in the west.
Amir abdul rehman signed the agreement and recieved pension from british. We afghans hate him for that decision. But it is also a fact that the same amir abdul rehman stirred up a rebellion in pashtun population in 1897 on the other side who were angry over durand line division. This destructive but disorganized effort by pakhtuns to join back afghanistan failed. In 1919 Afghanistan invaded british india to liberate pakhtunkhwa, they inflicted heavy casaulties on british but the war abruptly ended when british planes drop bombs on afghan royal palace....afghan king chickened out.
From 1947 to 1977 they attempted again through pakhtunistan movement, it also failed.

Did amir abdul rehman committed a blunder? Yes
Did Afghan rulers gave up on pakhtunkhwa? No
Are borders permenant? No
Will north and south korea ever unite into one nation? Yes

Well Afghans claim KPK and FATA, thats why i said that. This election is farce anyway, i wonder how many Afghan pashtuns voted. 3 million of them are in Pakistan and rest in east Afghanistan mostly.

There should be parlimentarian system like the one in Pakistan to represent every section of society.

Pakistan can annex Afghanistan in less then a day. So yes borders are not permanent. It seem your ancestors sold Pakistani pakhtuns for few gold coins, sorry i meant silver coins. Thats why blaming Pakistani pashtuns for being patriotic is ironic.

Why would Pakistani Pushtuns join dry mountain of Afghanistan we are happy and progressing well here we have better infrastructure and living standard compare to Afghanistan... Afghan Pushtuns come here and work in Pakistan because there is work and life better then Afghanistan...

Its just sad reality of Afghanistan. For them to annex inch of Pakistan, they will need to be as powerfull as USA and Pakistan to weak as its now. Good luck getting anywhere near that.
