Chinese civilization may be the oldest continuous one in world history, and it has a number of enduring characteristics.

1) The uniqueness and distinctiveness of Chinese civilization is due at least in part to geography. It is location at the eastern end of Eurasia and is bounded by mountains, deserts, and steppes. To the north is Siberia, and to the east is the Pacific Ocean.

2) Further characteristic of Chinese civilization has been its ability to have less civilized invaders who then absorbed Chinese culture and the language rather than the other way around, as was frequently the case in India.

3) Also important was the secular nature of Chinese civilization; it never produced a priestly class that had an important political role.

4) In addition, Chinese culture stresses the social rather than the individual life of human beings, thus emphasizing, as we will see in our discussion of Confucianism, the importance of relations between members of a family or between subject and king.

5) Finally, again as we shall see, the Chinese invented (thousands of years before other nations) a unique and stabilizing institution—a civil service recruited by means of public competitive examinations—that lasted into the twentieth century.

Hence, unlike the discontinuities and fragmentation of Indian civilization, Chinese civilization is characterized by cultural as well as political cohesion and continuity.

The Mongols converted to Tibetan Buddhism instead adopting the religious customs of Han people. Many ancient invaders like Greeks, Yuezhi, white Huns, Sythians etc. who came to India adopted Indian culture, took Indian names and converted to Buddhism and Hinduism.

They shaped India,so today's India is their job.they didnt adopt your culture, they made it.

some say that Tocharians were part of Aryan Caucacian group, they were native to China but later were defeated and merged into Chinese main stream, and some of them had to leave their homeland and moved westwards and southwards into west Asian ,and India where they founded their own kindoms on foreign lands.

Even in China foreign races formed Empire and got merged into China. The races who came into India before Turks adopted Indian culture and religion while the invaders after that brought Persian culture with them and partly adopted Indian culture resulting in a mixed culture, language, architecture etc.

Chinese systematically Hannized its minorities forcefully nothing proud about this oppression.

Indians are tolerant compared to chinese enough said.

sir the indian culture is a mixture of many ancient cultures....like .....among us hindus whenever someone dies we keep a mourning for 12 days which was also done in ancient greece 2000 years back

Actually the territory of Indian civilization was almost always the same throughout history, same is not true for the Chinese civilization.

We always have our culture almost intact for thousands of years, that's why the article says that Chinese civilization is the oldest continuous one in world history.foreigners over the years all unconditionally merged themselves in it.

Nah,it's just a delusion created by chinese themselves.Only some of northern barbarians and southern manzi could possibly got absorded by chinese.once it meet other great civilizations like islam, indian and christian civilization.chinese is the one who get absorded.
