I want to know why china want Arunachal Pradesh so badly
Chinese are smart people and for them war is the last of the last option

they gave up their claim on Sikkim and Ladakh
but hasn't gave up their claim on Arunachal Pradesh yet

they were almost at war with India in 1987 over the issue of Arunachal Pradesh
they still furiously call it their land and for them Arunachal is south Tibet
They repeatedly given many diplomatic stamens to convey their anger to India over many issues pertaining to ARUNACHAL like in recent past when Dalai Lama visited Arunachal

but surprisingly they did capture Arunachal Pradesh in 1962 war but gave it back after cease fire they only secure Askai chin

NOW THE QUESTION IS WHY CHINESE WANT ARUNACHAL WHEN THEY THEMSELVES RETREAT FROM IT AFTER CAPTURING IT IN 1962
ARE THEY REALLY SERIOUS TO GET ARUNACHAL?? or is it just a bargaining chip for them to keep presure on India???

Then y they had given it back to india after 1962 war??
isn't it sound stupid?
that once u return the territory only to reclaim it back after some time??

When have they given up on Sikkim?
Sikkim[edit]
In 1975, Sikkim monarchy held a referendum, in which the Sikkemese voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining India. At the time China protested and rejected it as illegal. The Sino-Indian Memorandum of 2003 was hailed as a de facto Chinese acceptance of the annexation.[34] China published a map showing Sikkim as a part of India and the Foreign Ministry deleted it from the list of China's "border countries and regions".[34] However, the Sikkim-China border's northernmost point, "The Finger", continues to be the subject of dispute and military activity.[4]

Chinese were incapable of holding the region from an Indian counter attack.

Logistics for troop supplies were non-existent and winter was very near.

They did the same with Aksai Chin.

Nowhere the Chinese have signed a written document with India accepting Sikkim is Indian territory.

Same query I have. That time Indian armed forces is very poorly equipped with no back up . resistance for Chinese force is almost nil. Maybe American pressure? Or soviets?

For that you've to understand geography...

First you need to understand, why China unilaterally made ceasefire?Because for isolated bases in Arunachal Pradesh,Chinese Human waves(this form of warfare was PLA's primary tactics in 1950s and 1960s) was effective. But PLA didn't have any strength to cross mountainous regions of Arunachal with heavy weapons and armors to wage war in plain. In fact, they still lack this skill due to Indian Govt's (stupid) plan to keep that area underdeveloped.

Even today, waging a land war is easy in Arunachal, but they can't effectively back it with Airpower and there is no way to bring armor into the picture. On other hand,India can make effective airpower use in Arunachal.Thats why China uses Salami tactics now to capture small portion of land and hold it(encroach),they don't go for open war.

For details, you should read why "Flying the hump" was so dangerous...

territorially it is not very important to china
well in strategic and diplomatic terms
this claim is to neutralize Aksai chin and India's support of Tibet
it can also be for an upper hand on future confrontations and negotiations
as we all know chinese policies are usually longterm

On serious notes i heard people there are like chinese. they have small eyes and same faces. they are chinese by origin so the land belongs to china as the people belong to china.

if china is not claiming it then you may take it.

I only have one simple question. Why do Pakistanis act like slaves appeasing their masters. Just look at your reply "If my master is not claiming it then you may take it" really!

Am sorry guys friendship is one thing but you guys need to change the way you think International relations are not run on emotions.

Sorry if i was too rash, I am just expressing how it looks from the other side.

Chinese Establishment is aware that all these lands belongs to the Indian nation.

Because accepting the legitimacy of India over south Tibet jeopardizes the legitimacy of China over Tibet. The treaty that gave away this part to British was signed by Tibet, not by China. Legitimacy of China ruling Tibet means such a treaty is illegal. The only way for China accepting India's claim has to be done via a new treaty signed by China and the claim cannot be based on the Tibet-Britain treaty. The new treaty has to go through negotiations with China and China very likely expects something in return, for example, accepting China's control in Akasai Chin. In fact, China was hinting that it was OK with such a trade before 1962. Of course, India didn't accept it then and doesn't accept it now.

India's reluctance in giving this part back to China stems from its reluctance in accepting Tibet is a part of China and its reluctance in giving up any British claims.
