I feel its not subject of debate here that how many people cant speak your national language the main point here is that majority of Tamils even if can speak it DONT want to speak it.

Tamils who are staying in other states are speaking Hindi. It's not like that we don't want to speak, here in our home/TN mostly people knows only Tamil, to them we cant speak in Hindi right?

Tamil staying or working in other states have no choice but to learn and speak the language of that state out of compulsion.

We are talking about Tamils' dislike for Hindi in their own state.

British made Urdu the official language of Punjab province unlike other provinces while Punjabi was deeply neglected by Punjabi Muslims both during British and post-independence. Some Pakistanis even told me that many Urban Punjabis had stopped speaking Punjabi but speak Urdu.
