U.S is powerful in three areas
Industry
defense
economy
All of which are interrelated..
depends on people attitude,scientific development,,and victories in world war which enhanced its strategic reach..which includes petrol rich middle east..
On the other hand for brazil it is like no pain no gain...

Add to that Technology,Though most of it are "Hijacked",like German scientists taken to US for top secret missions.

Brazil is hardly weak maybe only in terms of military otherwise it's a major economic power the 10th largest economy in the world .
