Why Bangladesh should support Sunni Arab and oppose Iran led Shia extremism

Bangladesh and Pakistan situation is not the same, Shia's are 15-20% of population and many in middle and upper classes, in Bangladesh they are not even 0.5%. So we have the luxury to take sides, much more so than Pakistan.

Ok. Set up Sunni extremist unregistered madrassas and wait for 5 years. Hindus and other minorities would be targeted by the extremist and demands would be made to declare Bangladesh as a sunni state.

Bangladesh would be destabilized.

Since Bangladesh' state is already weak and extremists would be delighted to live here and develop a network. Funds would flow in from all around the world.

90% of all our foreign earnings from EU and States and most NGOs are western. Should we let them dictates our terms and give out soverignty? GCC Monarch's are no longer funding extremism, the idea is to get guest workers as fighters, who will fight under moderate FSA for example. We should take care so they are not recruited by extremist leadership or get extremist funding.

Shia-Sunni is a big issue in Pakistan now. Because Sunni's have been sleeping for centuries, Shia's took advantage using their network. That is no longer the case these days, Sunni's have become aware, that Shia's are the enemy within. They and their Mafia network is killing Sunni's as we speak, in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, where ever they found opportunity to establish Shia supremacy.

Thank you, I respect your opinion of disagreement. It is for Bangladeshi's to decide what is in their national interest, not even by Bangladeshi's in this forum, all of whom just represent their personal opinion.

I am just presenting an idea so people can debate merits and demerits.

Extremism is a potential risk, we just need to be careful that they fight under moderate FSA and not get entangled with extremist factions. One thing good about trained fighters is that they will become useful as a hedge against our resident Hindutva terrorist sympathizers and supporters in our country.

No because it has been proven.We receive aid and do business with countries that are virtually enemies.Take Taiwan and China for example.We had good relations with both Iran and Iraq during Saddam era.You on the other hand have failed to give a good reason as to why we should support Arab Sunnis against Persian Shias.We signed trade accords with Iran in 2006.We have 100 million$ of trade with them.And your reason for supporting someone because of aid doesn't seem to work when it comes to the US.We should support Israeli genocide of Palestinians because it will be favorable for our largest aid provider.And stop showing Shia-Sunni problems in Pakistan as a reason for Bangladesh to take sides.We have not been the same country for a while!
