I love dogs. After the horse, it is man's best friend IMHO.
One day I was walking my German shepherd and my neighbors dog came running towards me and I think it was gonna bite me with the way it was charging towards me but my little German shepherd who was only 7 months old stood there like a rock infront of a bigger dog and protected me. I have loved dogs ever since. They are very loyal to the human beings.
But in Pakistan, dogs aren't treated very well. You don't have to sleep with them like in the west but take better care of them cause they deserve our love too.

They aren't in Islam, it's a misconception. Yes it's a cultural thing.

Across the globe and throughout history, there is ample, undeniable evidence that in the animal kingdom, man’s best friend is a dog. In the story of Surah al-Kahf, the dog was a companion of those young men of the cave whose prayers were accepted by God and as part of His rahmah (mercy), God included the dog in this illustrious narrative, who spread its legs at the entrance of the cave, creating a diversion for his seven young human companions. Subhan Allah.

For those Muslims who invoke the name of dog in abusing, repudiating, or condemning another person might remember and reflect on this Qur’anic narrative that includes a dog.

It is in this context that Qur’an discusses about dogs in Surah al-Kahf (The Cave). In two verses – 18:18 and 18:22 – the mentions occur. Approaching these verses without the relevant context before these verses would render the reference to dog as simply inconsequential. First, let’s cite these two verses.

"And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror." (18/Al-Kahf/18)

"They will say there were three, the fourth of them being their dog; and they will say there were five, the sixth of them being their dog - guessing at the unseen; and they will say there were seven, and the eighth of them was their dog. Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord is most knowing of their number. None knows them except a few. So do not argue about them except with an obvious argument and do not inquire about them among [the speculators] from anyone." (18/al-Kahf/22)

I have 2 dogs. I have owned breeds like Dobermans, Pitbulls, Labradors, Cane Corsos, Boxers.

Dogs lick their Anus and Penis. Many dogs poke their nose into faeces and urine. Many dogs eat poop.

This might the reason why Muslims don't keep dogs.

I am a member of lots dog communities. And visited a lot of dog shows. The thing I observed is Muslims who keep dogs are Shias. I can make out from their name that they are Shias.

These are my honest observations.

It is not permissible for a Muslim to keep a dog, unless he needs this dog for hunting, guarding livestock or guarding crops.

Meet Jack. He is a good friend. I let him lick my hands and stuff. I also rub my hands on him and he loves it.
He is a brave dog and I love him. I feed him roti, gur, milk and sometimes meat. He didn't like me at first but he loves me now.

Roti gur and milk are not good for him.

Feed him rice, carrots, sweet potatoes, eggs, meat, yogurt etc.

Or a good dog food like Farmina N&d or Adren Grange.

If that is the reason we muslims should stay away from goats as well. They jack off their penises with their mouth and drink the sperm. I've seen it too many times.

Dogs arer premissible especailly for safety. in fact you shd have a great bond with them...
Cats and Goats also sniff urine etc.. But dogs are more inclined towards it. Just need due diligence to offer pray and religious rituals.

Nice deed, but pls don't give him sugar, you fool.

doodh/roti/bread and meat is ok (but not spicy cooked like we like it, plain boiled a bit and cleaned)... or just get some petfood.
