The increase in the number of passengers is in line with the increase in the number of trips on weekends. The Whoosh Fast Train is now one of the preferred modes of transportation for people to travel Jakarta-Bandung and vice versa.

Based on ticket data sold, of the 21,312 passengers, 497 passengers or 2.3 percent of them were first class passengers, 886 passengers or 4.2 percent business class passengers, and 19,929 passengers or 93.5 percent premium economy class passengers.

"The average occupancy of each trip reached 98.5 percent. As for certain schedules, the occupancy reaches 100 percent or is sold out. Seeing the high demand for passengers, KCIC also periodically evaluates, especially related to the schedule and number of train trips," said Eva.

Contrary to many non Indonesian belief, actually there is already a normal train that can be used for Jakarta-Bandung traveling.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) recorded the number of passengers on the Whoosh fast train as of November 14, 2023 reaching 352,000 people.

KCIC Main Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that the presence of Whoosh supports economic growth through the high number of people who take vacations and use them for work purposes.

This can be seen from the results of a survey conducted on passengers, namely that 53 percent of passengers used the Whoosh fast train for vacation and 23 percent for business. Then 24 percent is for educational, commuting and other activities.

Are they going to extend it through all of Java? How about the other islands?

Whoosh is such a corny name though lol

The plan is for Jakarta - Bandung - Jogjakarta - Surabaya uses China HSR system and Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya uses Indonesian indigenous HSR system.

Indigenous HSR system

We are currently developing our own HSR train with hybrid propulsion (battery and diesel). The plan is to use it for Jakarta- Semarang- Surabaya route.

The reason it uses hybrid system is to enable the train to be used in areas with less electric transmission system which is common for Non Java Islands.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesia is secretly developing a fast train project called the Red and White Fast Train. The Red and White Fast Train development project is the result of collaboration between the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA.

Different from the Whoosh Fast Train produced by China, the Red and White Fast Train project will run on the Northern route, connecting Jakarta, Cirebon, Semarang and ending in Surabaya. This development project has been carried out since 2019 and is targeted for completion in 2025 and can be tested in 2026.

In 2019 I received RISPRO funding for a competition to carry out design and prototyping of Indonesian fast trains. Funding for 3 years (until) 2022. However, because of Covid, we had to extend it and now it has been completed from the steering line side, starting from the front end "to the back end, the outside and the inside," said the Head of the Jakarta-Surabaya Fast Train Design and Prototyping Research Team, Agus Windharto, quoted from the LPDP RI YouTube account, Thursday (5/10/2023).

In more detail, Agus said that the research that had been carried out covered the design of the cabin and cockpit envelope. Not only that, there are also studies on human factors engineering, ergonomics, aerodynamic testing, as well as car body structure design and testing. This research received RISPRO LPDP funding of IDR 4.895 billion for 3 years of research.

Agus stated that the Merah Puth Fast Train has a maximum speed above existing conventional trains. Although he did not mention the maximum speed of the Red and White Fast Train. He said that the travel time from Jakarta to Surabaya, which usually takes up to 10 hours, can now be cut to just 3 hours and 40 minutes by using the Red and White Fast Train.

"From a technological perspective, if we look at speed, so far our railway has a speed of between 80-120 km/hour. So we see that the Jakarta-Surabaya train can be reached in 8 hours, so Argo Bromo is now Argo Bromo Anggrek Jakarta-Surabaya "which usually takes 12 hours, 13 hours can now be reached in 8 hours. So with this fast train, if this is implemented later it can be reached in 3 hours 40 minutes," he said.

Currently the High Speed Train production process is still carried out by INKA. The high-speed train is targeted to be completed in 2025 and tested in 2026.

One of main reasons for Woosh success is its connection to Jakarta public transportation system. The connection to the newly graduated Greater Jakarta LRT system makes Woosh get connected to entire Jakarta public transportation system (BRT, Commuter Line train, LRT, MRT)

Check this guy uses Jakarta public transportation system to get to Woosh station. He started his video from Cawang station in South Jakarta, from there he continued the journey by using Greater Jakarta LRT system to reach Woosh HSR station in East Jakarta.
