What would be the purpose of the theocracy?

To ensure all laws are made in accordance to Islam (depending upon how the different sects agree) and support Muslims around the world (if the economy allows).

But suppose a Islamic state ruled by a Caliph gives protection and rights to all its citizens irrespective of religion.... and gives equal opportunity to everyone barring some military and high government posts .... what is wrong with that ?

you have to read the authors words carefuly, with more power the ruling gets a confidence that they are inline with the Gods version of a setup and start imposing rather than counsulting with the people.
What ever you have said is impossilbe is the authors argument

Because the country claims to be an ISLAMIC STATE/REPUBLIC/EMIRATE....
It wants to ensure its outlook....

the same ques pops out again, where is the equality for minorities.

So you prove my point too .... a secular states in the examples I have quoted are no different form Religious ones

So the purpose of the state is to make laws?? I think you're pulling my leg. But that would also mean that the so called "Divine law" is incomplete and not "Divine" at all, since men and possibly women, would be making these laws.

A state of emergency is imposed .... A President gets emergency is powers.... he becomes a dictator and says all his actions are in the best national interest... He virtually claims to be a deity.

It is a cyclical process and every form of gov ends up like that eventually

Islam gives minorities equal rights related to their freedom, job opputunities, health facilties, religion etc.....but Islam does not Allow them to rule as a leader in Islamic state.......it will be a long discussion why islam said so

And how long does Emergency be there? kindly do not come up with excuses and weak arguments, when you come up with weak arguments, I question myself should I answer?
when you post some thing, check for the answers that your counterpart like will post back and come up with a question that is a chanllenge for us to answere?

You have not thought things through

The purpose of Islamic state is to Make LAW according to QURAN and SHARIA not human made law ........
if we changes these LAWs of QURAN then they will not be From Allah and then there will be maximum chances that rights of few people compromised

well it depends, if one is forced or pushed to follow certain things then it is oppression by all means

i think its difficult but not immposible because the LAWS are same but the way different sect explain it are different.....so its not a big problem because more than 90% all sect agree on same thing the difference is only less than 5%

Islam does not allow anyone to force anyone to convert to Islam.................Islam tells us that we should treat non muslims in such a way that they get impressed and attracted to Islam automatically

I am telling you that LAWS are explained in QURAN AND HADITH........you are totally wrong that men make laws....man only implement them according to his understanding u look confused to me brother
