Who is this Lunatic?

So I was watching videos on Pakistan Security Analysis and came across a man called Zahid Hamid on youtube, watched his videos some insight but most of saber rattling and conspiracy theories. Then I saw this video:

Please look at the video carefully at 05:47 he says "with this kind of fire power, you don't have to aim".....

He is a hazard to himself and others. He has other videos of him in Military Fatigues and with a fully automatic rifle. Is he ex army?
Not army...

Although he claims to have fought soviets during Afghan Jihad..

He into conspiracies... runs some “think tank” from his basement.

We can have a discussion if you like, I fall under "Islamic hardliner" (although I don't personally like the term).

Yes please that would be most appreciative. Please may I ask what relationship do you see Pakistan having as an modern Islamic Republic with it's neighbors and wider community, do you support the Malaysia or Indonesian models or are you in support of the Turkish model?

Recently there have been a high number of attacks on minorities in Pakistan, particularly Christians and Hindus. As I understand it, there is law protecting minorities and places of worship, what is your stance on the people who carry out these attacks or prejudice against minorities in Pakistan.

In the next 10 years do you see Pakistan getting more liberal or more stricter in practicing Islam and Sharia and what is your opinion of the security situation in Pakistan and along the borders of Afghanistan and Urumqi in the coming years?

Alas it depends what shell you are using, are you using a Slug, LG or SG, what is the load, what gauge and choke is used on the shot gun, the range between you and the target. I do a lot of trap and skeet shooting and know from experience that shotguns are pretty much useless beyond 40 yards, unless you use a slug round.

Whilst you may think it is simple, he is giving a lecture of weapon handling. The first rule of tactical weapon handling is LMFT: Load, Muzzle, Finger, Target. If you aren't aiming, than you aren't shooting safe. Simple really! :)
Ahh Never mind ,
You have taken his words too seriously.
He would have said it in a different context maybe :undecided:

I am reading one of his papers in English, intriguing to say the least :).

Boss, i have not watched the video to be honest and just replied to your objection. All i want to say for now is that for a shotgun, using a SG or even LG, the requirement of your aim being perfect are far less than a rifle! I think this is what he was trying to say. Surely not saying that you can point it in ANY direction and shoot. Perhaps it is just about understanding?
Or if you insist, i will watch the video and may be find myself in better position to share my views on this?

It's up to you, but I have been shooting skeet and trap since 16 and find the comment "don't need to aim" coming from someone who is teaching shooting to the public on youtube, dangerous to say the least. Lets agree to disagree, we all have our own opinions, correct? :agree:

Hahah, thanks for the warning. I am going to read more about him to better understand the kind of influencers that exist in Pakistan. So far I have gathered that there are three major schools of thought, two of which are in a constant state of flux with the third being possibly the only stable party often acting as a pivot. I speak of course of the Islamic Hardliners, the Military and the Liberal crowd.

Interestingly my reading so far has concluded than many of the hawks and nationalist types have very strong links with hard line Islamic movements, although there is little or no correlation between those who support nationalist movements to necessarily have links with any extremist outfit like the LEJ or TTP.

What is worrying is that lack or diminishing segment of the vocal liberal in Pakistani society, my interaction with Pakistani Diaspora here in the U.K has been a mixture of intellectual, professional and those highly critical of the military.

I would like to speak to those from each end of the spectrum so I can better understand what is the primary driver for societal conflict in Pakistan (discounting politics and economic issues).

I thought you were British Pakistani?

Yup, lets agree to disagree!
To me it is just about misunderstanding what was being said and will leave it at that. :) Can move forward then?

What about the project related to Pakistan's socio-economic situation and terrorism link? What is it for? Some degree? what? :)
