The country most commonly associated with the Taliban is Afghanistan, their short-lived rule over it from 1996-2001 and a subsequent two-decade war fought between the Afghan government, NATO, and the US before storming to power last month in August of 2021. However, the birthplace of the Taliban, Pakistan, has its very own Taliban organization, the TTP or Tehrik-i-Taliban, often simply referred to as the Pakistani Taliban, though its aims and modus operandi often differ from the more famous Afghan Taliban, and the two groups have frequently come to clash in the border region between the two countries.
