Hi,

There are no such aircraft in the inventory of that category---all the F16 have been upgraded---the Jordanian one were upgraded by the jordanians awhile back----. The fleet is in full operation---and these will be additions----.

If the congress does not approve of them----then the J10C is ready to fill in the hole.

The F16 give the U S leverage over Pakistan----. If the U S lets that last leverage go----it won't help the cause.

Plus it is of utmost importance that the U S has support of Pakistan to resolve the afghan issue that is at a critical stage.

No One hates F-16s as F-16s !
But the problem is that they are just those elephant's teeths which it never uses ?
Now as its been under USAID programe , its them telling us , that they only can give 8?
if their Congress let that deal done ?
Now imagine , in a war situation they just lock down all via - any dam stalite controls in it ?
Then what ?
We would be having a dialogue with american Congress to let our brids defend us ?

PAF itself didn't participate in Kargil war due to the fact that we never accepted that our regular troops are participating in the war. So that's why PAF was asked to provide defensive sorties and to protest Pakistan's skies against any IAF incursion. It was Pakistan's decision not to let PAF cross LOC and to limit its role.

This order will not impact any other procurement plan by PAF both is terms of capability and allocation of financial resources. These are Blk 52s. There will be another repeat order of similar size for Blk 52s after the US elections and maybe some more MLUed ones. With this order the number of F16s will go upto 86. The plan is to have a total of 100/110 F16s. Smaller incremental order make sense as it spreads out limited resources and are easy to get through US congress. Without much hala gula PAF has built a very sizable and potent F16 fleet. Compare that to the Indian Rafael deal. The point I am trying to make is that we give less credit to our military planners than they deserve especially in view of the financial and political challenges they face. F16s will be the last fighter jet Pakistan will buy from the US. The future is all indigenous, Chinese or Russian but with sub components from all over the world including Europeans.

Dont you think having 1/4th of our airforce susceptible to sanctions at times of war is a huge risk. Plus the fact we are only allowed to keep them at Jacobabad and Sargodha makes them pretty easy targets at times of war.
My point was we shd atleast try to get something better like some block-60 features into the birds

PAF wasn't was part of kargill war plans cause we were under sanctions by america for our nuclear explosions ?
But they knew well what we were going yo do ?
& with those stupid sanctions ,
F-16s were the worst hit , we were flying few those days buying few spare parts from black market ?
few of those F-16 were tailored to hit at last in the heart of India for the big bang ?
That's what we could have done best , then ?
our COAS couldn't have sacrificed our few , airel attacking assests ?
They had orders to defend us in any , large scale open war in the rest if Pakistan ?

Are you sure Europeans are any better than the US? Wasn't the JF-17 project delayed because Pakistan wanted Western avionics and engine, but could not get them from either US or Europe?

They were not sanctions but a business decision by the French as they got suckered in by the Indians on the Rafael deal. Serves them right. Now they are back knocking on Pakistan's door again. Anyway France not selling was a blessing disguise. We got a comparable avionics suite from the Chinese at lower prices with local production. Also France is not Europe. Spanish avionics are already being used in JF17 and we have long standing relationship with the Italians including assembling Grifo Radars for Mirages and F7s as well as UAVs. Rumors are that Italian AESA is on the table for Blk III JF17s along with Chinese and Russian options.There was some talk but no real delay by the Russians on the engines. We are not buying engines directly from the Russian but through China. China has a contract for 500 RD93s from Russia. Now the Russians have offered to sell the engines directly to Pakistan.
