In history, we have won championships in cricket, hockey and squash.

And what are the sports that have the potential to be popular in Pakistan?

I think we can improve ourselves in football. Our children and youth play it very well in the streets of the city, especially Makrani, Balochi and Hazara children.

. .
MMA, boxing, wrestling. We have always had potential here but criminally underfunded.

Polo and other equestrian sports is also an option. We have the cultural traditions but naturally a more expensive area in the sporting world.

Esports. I know some of you will laugh but if major global players like Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain are investing in their esports divison, something big is happening there.

. .
  • Football - great potential in Baloch/Makrani/Hazara communties
  • Rugby - ban Kabbadi and send them off to learn Rugby
  • Tennis - Hazara, erstwhile FATA
  • Winter Sports - Gilgit-Baltistan

Why would you ban kabbadi - it's traditional in Punjab. Sports ultimately is for people's enjoyment. It seems stupid to ban one, just to promote the other.

I think we'd have a pretty decent Polo team.

The biggest one we have scope for is football. Plenty of national interest, you only need a ball.

Football - seen videos of kids from lyari and surrounding areas, they are really talented, if trained well and given the resources, they could become an Asian powerhouse, or more eventually given the time and money!

Well, what I mean't was all that talent should be used in global sports giving players opportunity to earn fortunes and media celebs as well as placing Pakistan on the sporting map. Instead of bumming about in a dirty village field.

Lyari FC or Liyari United could have had derbies worth mentioning in the news. They can still.

A football has it easier to replace the guns than any other sporting equipment.

I have a scar from a two footed lunge from behind as evidence for our footballers in Liyari.

. .
bow arrow, slingshot, spring rifle pellet, fishing competition, horse riding, car rally.

Pakistan should put some effort in football and basketball. All big nations have good team on those sports. Other popular sport like volleyball, Pakistan has shown good performance.
