Bengalis are famous for eating. We live to eat. Food is everything for us.

There are very delicious Bengali foods.

I love Shorshe Ilish and Bhapa Pitha.

Shorshe Ilish (Mustard Hilsa curry)

This is the most famous Bengali cuisine may be. The most tasty Hilsha fish is found in river Padma but sad part is Bangladeshi Padma's Hilshas are mostly exported to West Bengal. So Bangladeshis actually don't get chance to enjoy delicious Padma's Hilsha as much as Indian Bengali does. We are left with not so tasty Meghna's Hilsha.

Bhapa Pitha (Steamed cake)

(looks very similar to Idli but its a sweet cake. It is baked mostly in winter season)
It is originally Bangladeshi cake.

No.1 in my Non-Veg Menu. In my part of India, it is available at Rs.700/- to Ra.1500/- per Kg depending on size. But I don't know about the place of Ilish is available here, the bigger the better.

I LOVE fish. So its a matter of shame for me to admit I've not tried Bengali style Hilsa (Ilish).

Does anyone now a good place to get it in Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai or Bangkok?
