Where have all the females gone?

China has a lot of leg work to do.

Is it that bad in China ?

Male to female is 120:100 ?

.
These countries have huge expatriate population which consists of mainly male oil workers. Not a surprise that gender ratio is screwed up.

Dude, those expats will not be counted as citizen of these country so why would there presence change the demographics!

Are you asking if they have Asian workers? Or whether they have oil?
The answer is yes for both.
interesting , Omani people themselves go to other Neighbor country like UAE and KSA for work on other hand they import workers from south Asia .

read my post again.....you'll understand......

OK, lets analyze the data given in your preferred source.....

........at birth , under 15

India = 1.12 , 1.13

China = 1.133 , 1.17

[A ratio above 1 means there are more males than females, while a ratio below 1 means there are more females than males. A ratio of 1 means there are equal numbers of females and males.]

Firstly, The above stat. shows that, at birth, the male to female ratio is more for China than India.....which means, the Chinese determine the sex of the fetus and kill it(abortion) if it is a female even before it is born....

Secondly, the male to female ratio, under 15 is also more in case of China than India......which means, killing baby girls(female infanticide) is more rampant in China.......infact, highest in the world
LOL what a poor analysis and a poorly chosen username. China's female to male ratio at birth at the time the survey was taken was 1.13, just a bit above india's 1.12. The female to male ratio for under 15 years is higher than 1.13 because parents-to-be have become better educated over the course of 15 years and selective abortions have decreased compared to 15 years ago. :rofl:

I wish our govts had the foresight to spend more on education. China must be emulated

The only way for developing countries to move forward is by getting rid of dollar hegemony first. Otherwise, the fruits of your labor end up in Uncle Sam's pocket and he pays you peanuts. USA has set up a global con game to exploit developing countries backed up with military might :sick:

.
I think this stems from prejudice in favor of males in agricultural societies. The governments in East and South Asian countries should pay benefits to families with female children to offset the trend.

When you're 'caught with your pants down', you've no other option left but to deliberately twist facts....

The ratio is NOT female to male, it is male to female.....the link is below for everyone to see....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_sex_ratio

Therefore, higher the ratio, more is the no. of males to females......and both the ratios(at birth & under 15) are higher for China then India......

Thus your analysis is B.S. and my analysis holds true..........
(This shows how the Chinese, Pakistanis.....deliberately twist facts just to bash India.....)

I don't think that is correct. If you see sex ratios of these countries at low ages(see any source other than census like CIA fact book), the sex ratio is closer to 1. Only the sex ratio of working age population is skewed. Which means the demographics published include expatriate population. These countries probably don't publish proper census figures.

In any case if the numbers only included the citizens of a country, it won't give a true picture of the nature of the country.It has to include the living population without regard to citizenship.

Really?! I didn't know that. It would seem that no one in that country wants to do the (in their view)menial work that we do. What jobs do the Omanis normally take up in UAE and KSA?

Overall the sex ratio is 1.06:1, which is normal BIRTH sex ratio, but not normal overall.

The reason no one notices anything wrong is because most of the current youth were born in the 80's and early 90's, before ultrasound became widespread, and so enjoyed a normal sex ratio. The current generation has nothing to fear. Coincidentally, the 15-64 age group is solidly normal.

I feel damn bad for our children. That's why I hope to have many beautiful daughters, so they can have their pick of successful and sophisticated males.

The sex ratio is dropping off actually from the peak at 2005, which is a good sign. The 1.17 is a momentum from the previous 1995-2005 10 years of bad mistakes. Let us hope that when my generation (late 80's early 90's) starts having children, we will be less superstitious, more educated and the conservative old people have died off.
