Feud between Xiaomi and LeTV may have been last straw prompting Beijing's crackdown on malpractice | South China Morning Post

I didn't know that Chinese TV regulators don't allow Internet browser integration into normal TVs. Seems that China's rulers don't want Chinese audiences to be connected to Internet TV, and perhaps view things they prefer them not viewing.

2. The ban is due to copy-right violation. As the unlocked Xiaomi and LeTV are used to view user uploaded shows that violate broadcasting rights.
