What's new

When did Pakistan government stop collecting taxes and started to decrease exports?

it all started when property dealer bajwa took off his khaki pantaloons and ran across the prospering dining table of the Pakistani economy full of food and made big julaabs across the table while holding the cipher letter and crying "naai naai mujhay punish na kar na donald lu bhai may abhi Imran Khan ko hata ta hoon"...

'nuf said!
Do you mean to say that bajwa defecated on the same table that had many delicious Pakistani food?

Power shortages started under Musharraf but almost at the end of his tenure, they grew under PPP Government and because a catastrophe by the time PML came to power.

Let's not discuss why money was spent on Metro and why not somewhere else because most of these are speculative. Transport is one of the most important and fundamental issues of Pakistan and PML spent more on it than any other party in my lifetime. I feel Karachi is quite unfortunate as it still does not have something comparable to the Metro Train system.
Dude you have no competency to speak on economic issues.

You are a babbu on all things related to economics. You come from a mindset that Dar is a genius. And that Miftah is rubbish compared to him.

Somebody explain the matter in simple non-technical language to lay people.

I figure out that Pakistan's economic problems - forex reserves, balance of payments - whatever it's called - are because of non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports.

But when did it all (non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports) start?

Was it all (non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports) sudden or was it gradual?

Which government was responsible?
Well most of Pakistanis think either export should grow by 400%(hence why noone like PTI with 30% increase ine exports) every year or should decrease.

Hence why PMLN wins elections every time who have mastered the technique of killing off exports but this time they may have our done themselves with a much steeper export drop

Every country has resources upon which it grows it's economy.
Arabs have Oil,
other countries have minerals
some have agriculture
some have technology
and rest have manpower

Pakistan's resources which include agricultural, mineral and trade are owned by
feudal families, who also dominate the provincial and national legislature.

Thus in the last 70 or so years, they have made sure no legislation can come to play, that challenges their authority.

In india, tax department can raid any one's home,
in Pakistan, tax department can't leave their own offices.

So it is the feudal lords who are responsible.
Not really biggest industrialist in Pakistan is the military inc not the fuedals lords

Dar is genious.
At his time foreign aid was highest at 2b$ per year of CSF (twice amount of IMF).

He needs time to persuade Americans to start bombing KP and to get CSF fund resumed

In interim he is working to decrease exports and absolute butcher the remittances which mashallah he is doing great at love Dar for his butchery 💕

Now when it comes to power sector PPPP insisted only that coal and this didn't open expensive power plants except for thar work which slowed down in PMLN era

While PMLN was planning to build 6000 mw of gaddanai coal project based on integrated imported coal and port but then shahabaz sharif told him what the **** are you doing. We need to build these plant in Punjab

So then we built them in Punjab with no way to transport the gas or coal from the ports

Master genious shahabaz sharif love him 💕💕

Last I checked Pakistan’s agriculture land area has been gradually increasing compared to 2010 with some years in between having hiccups.

45.5 to 47.5 in 13 years? Population increased by 25% in 13 years.

Sahiwal Coal Power Project loan from China.

Import coal —> transport via train from Karachi to Sahiwal —> Power Plant on prime agricultural land

A basket case of a project of multiple f-ck ups.

Original plan was gaddanai integrated coal project but Shahbaz sharif rightly pointed out we don't get votes in gaddanai

Now we are stuck with high cost IPPs 😊😁
Love you nawaz sharif

It Still Shows Priorities Of The Two Parties PTI Wanted To Create Jobs For The Poor So The Offered Incentives Like RCET Tariffs and Faster Processing of Refunds to The Largest Job Creator Apart From This Construction Package and Mobile Phone Manufacturing Policy Means They Created 5.5 million jobs

And Attained A Rapid Rate of Industrialization

OTOH PML N Just Wanted Big Shiny Showpieces To Win Over Voters and Make Some Money on The Side.Resulting In

All those are symptoms, not the problem itself. You should probably study a book on macroeconomics and economics of development. In a nutshell, Pakistan's problems are a consequence of misallocation of resources over a long time, we are talking of generations. This led to low level of human development i.e., people have low level of skills and education to produce exportable surplus. Normally, that won't be a big problem if the country is endowed with valuable natural resource like oil that you can just pump out of ground. Or if the country is so small that subsistence agriculture and unorganized/small scale industry will allow a decent living. Pakistan is the first example of a large country not endowed with exportable natural resources nor having human development needed to produce exportable surpluses. This contradiction has been averted for a long time by borrowing (and help from remittances from expatriates). Now that borrowing can't continue, the challenge is to shrink consumption to match local productivity (plus remittances less any net debt repayments).

Well, that dream has been snatched. I am no longer in a position to say anything good about Dar and he is a bigger ****** than Miftah before him.

1. High proportion of govt expenditure on military. This has been the case for decades
- (eg 2021 : USA 8.32%, Russia 10.7%, China 5.03%, India 8.27%, ....Pakistan 17.2%)
- in fact 17.2% is one of the lower years! It has in the past been around 25% till 2005
- military expense produces ZERO development
2. Utter lack of knowledge in matters fiscal
- they have relied on external saviours for decades - KSA ummah chumma, USA WoT bounty,
Chinese CPEC ...some thematic way to kick the can down the road
- a big country that budgets and prioritizes like a tiny kingdom based on emotion
3. sub-optimal human development
- reliance of madrassah type education leading to vast numbers left behind
- ridiculously few real educational and research institutions of caliber
4. sheer lack of accountability
- public that supported coups as defence mechanism for national losses
- military leaders that took advantage of such public to amass wealth via power
- political clans that couldn't give a damn

yes that is exactly what I mean.

congrats man, looks like india has always had an indirect but very close ally sitting in the top offices of the army all along thanks to uncle sam! property dealer bajwa has proven to be a greater friend of india than that property dealer yahya khan! he is sitting with indian bijnich people right now as we speak in dubai probably enjoying some gobar flavored indian dosas and bhujias!
