When did Pakistan government stop collecting taxes and started to decrease exports?

Somebody explain the matter in simple non-technical language to lay people.

I figure out that Pakistan's economic problems - forex reserves, balance of payments - whatever it's called - are because of non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports.

But when did it all (non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports) start?

Was it all (non-collection of taxes and decrease of exports) sudden or was it gradual?

Which government was responsible?

Collection of Tax in local currency will not fix foreign reserves issue because country is hooked on imports and it takes dollars to import. Solution is to produce locally and export. Stop import to essential items only.

Collection of taxes was already low in every govt. Population increased and so does their needs. Imports increased due to demand and export decreased due to energy crisis.
my question is why cant you build the level of trust and expertise so that your currency is treated as an equivalent. balance of trade is a must.

.
Its amazing Pakistan is able to maintain a nuclear arsenal with a <$50Bn federal budget.

.
That just shows how wrong you were to trust dar in the first place LMAO 🤣

Miftah was a above average FM- dar
Yeah well, Shaukat Tarin and other PTI Ministers weren't prizes either. Matter of fact, they were even worse, they just inherited a much better situation and messed it all up.

Because Its take hard work and integrity. People don’t like to work hard when they see others are taking shortcuts and their is no accountability i.e corruption.

It Still Shows Priorities Of The Two Parties PTI Wanted To Create Jobs For The Poor So The Offered Incentives Like RCET Tariffs and Faster Processing of Refunds to The Largest Job Creator Apart From This Construction Package and Mobile Phone Manufacturing Policy Means They Created 5.5 million jobs

And Attained A Rapid Rate of Industrialization

OTOH PML N Just Wanted Big Shiny Showpieces To Win Over Voters and Make Some Money on The Side.Resulting In

You must be really biased to post all the above without fact or reason. Starting from your last point, did you even bother to read what was the cause for closure of units? Are you not aware of the power crisis which the PML Government inherited in 2013 and could only resolve by the end of their tenure in 2018 thereby gifting Imran Khan and PTI surplus power?

Bringing in random facts without basis and reasons is not really fair. It was Dar who gave the car policy in 2016 and who invited many new entrants into the automobile industry amongst many other sectors. Apart from CPEC, dozens of power producing units, a large network of roads and infrastructure, all of which forms the backbone of an industry based country, Dar and PML also invited FDI from all over the world and things only started to unravel and go down the drain when the establishment decided to initiate cases against a sitting PM and FM; what kind of impression and confidence does that give to potential FDI?

As for jobs created in the construction industry, by giving the construction industry and NRO and presenting it as a place to park all the black money by giving amnesties; was Imran Khan not following the book written by PML by following the exact same methods of incentivizing the construction industry and by giving amnesties? Other than the fact that Imran Khan used to say that he would open cases against all those who were beneficiaries of amnesties (only to fail the amnesty given by PML Government) and then take another U-Turn on his promise and actually give multiple amnesties to the construction industry, what did Imran do which the previous Government's had not done?

FDI???You must be a rare breed of patwari to think that pml n attracts FDI during 1990s they froze accounts and unilaterally broke sovereign agreements with IPPs.During 2013 to2018 they refused to honour the commitment of discounted gas to al tuwairqi steel mill inspite of the fact that it costed a mere rs 5 billion per year for 5 years and they were also offered a 15% share for this.

Not to mention the exit of Barclays and OMV during their tenure.Whenever Nooniy toons came to power multinationals have made a run for it

.
Must have also explained that the exports dropped to around 25 Billion USD under PML because of massive power issues where the industry was facing power shortages of 14-18 hours every day which led to closures and relocation of many businesses to Bangladesh etc. Therefore, PML had to invest heavily in power generation, it is because of those efforts that we have surplus energy today.
nope. ppp faced similar issues. and yet, the exports were higher. what pmln did enjoy was relative peace and calm following ops in north waziristan, and very low oil prices. and still managed to reduce exports.

I Don't know how many khota biryanis one has to have to be spewing BS Like This.PPP Tenure Still Saw Rising Exports Inspite of Rampant 18-22 Hour Load Shedding and Still Exports Rose All The Way To $25 billion and BTW All Regional competitors of Pakistan Like India Bangladesh Also Suffer From Loadshedding But STill Manage To Export Far More Than What Pakistan Does.

PML N Government Enjoyed Relative Peace and Stability and Due To Power Projects Started During PPP Tenure Like Gomal Zam Dam Maturing and Lump Sum Payment of Circular Debt By Ishaq Dar During The First Budget He Presented The Power Situation Actually Improved.

And There Was A Difference Between The Construction Sector Package and The Amnesty Scheme Granted By Previous Regimes,Before People Could Just Pay A Nominal Amount and Have All Their Black Money Whitened No QUestions Asked.PTI Compelled Them To Invest In Construction Activity Which Had A Knock On Effect On The Economy. Thus Without Spending A Single Rupee The Government Was Able To Generate Economic Activity of Rs 1 Trillion

I Remember Construction Workers Started Making Rs 40000 A Month During The Time

Also You Should Provide At Least One Reference That Shows PML N Made Anything Remotely Known As Improvement. They Gave Imran Khan A C/A Deficit of $20 Billion and Loans Worth $60 Billion Plus To Repay.Pakistan Had To Borrow $7 Billion Just To Feed Ishaq Dar's Ego

God Knows What The Powers That Be Saw In A Corrupt Incompetent Self Serving Psychopath Like Dar

i agree but this label of third world is not correct. I encourage you come and visit us here. See how we have moved forward. We were really devastated in the 70s from the stupid policies of Ujamaa - aka chinese socialism by Mwalimu Julius. That time we were far far behind Pakistan or rest of the continent. Now there is progress for the past 30 years and the changes are very remarkable. All it took was good leadership and people follow what happens/precedence that is set.

There is a lot of work and one biggest worry we have is the debt which is coming due and this is what late magafuli was fighting with the outsiders such as chinese and others - we dont want white elephants that dont deliver; tenders are given on ROI basis. The SDR rail link - while many of us think it is a folly - existing railways could be upgraded - we hope it will prove otherwise. Kesho... tomorrow we will see.

I wonder why people create lies and deceit for political purposes even when they apparently have no benefit. Power shortage in PPP's first year was the same as was in their last year? Was the largest operation/war against terror in the history of Pakistan not started under PML Government after APS? What can you achieve by spreading lies is simply beyond me.

and what was the export situation in 1st year vs the last year?

Was the largest operation/war against terror in the history of Pakistan not started under PML Government after APS?
nope, only the operation in north waziristan. all the rest: swat, south waziristan etc. were fought from 2008-13.

What can you achieve by spreading lies is simply beyond me.
please dude, you are the one peddling lies. pathetic.

one thing is for certain, though, that oil prices fell globally, during pmln's tenure, and still they failed to capitalize on that.
