Whats your baradari or tribe?

I am Afghan, i am descendant of an Afghan prince marwat khan lodhi.

Pak-one is a marwat lohani pashtun. Lohani pashtuns are sindhi lohana nomadic merchants who over the centuries have assimilated in afghans particularly within Ghilzai confideration due to common nomadic lifestyle.

I belong to Butt tribe, but this is a misnomer for us. Our actual tribe was Dar from paternal side and Lone tribe from maternal side. For some reason a lot of family members in my family look atypical for both punjabis and kashmiris. I am in europe and I totally stand out among pakistanis from all provinces including pashto speaking people. I look more like kurds, syrians, jordanidans etc.

There is a myth in pakistan that pashtuns look foreign looking , from my experience in europe it is totally rubbish because all pashtuns from pakistan that I have met look desi with typical sindhi and punjabi like features. The only people in pashtuns whose features look foreign in pakistan are acutally Dardic/nuristani communities that have assimilated among pashtuns over the centuries.

Whats Musali? Sounds like praying carpet

When a chura/dalit hindu converts to islam in punjab and kashmir, he is called musalli. Muslallis are muslims with Chura/dalit ancestary.

In short you are superior than all Pakistanis. 21 toopain le kar aaon salami dainay k liay?

i thought mian were people who took care of masjids

Maybe, but I think the title is reserved for educated class or bureaucrats.

I think RazPak's explanation makes sense as my paternal grandfather (the mian side) was well educated especially by the standards of the muslim community of that time, as he did a bachelors in engineering from Punjab University and subsequently worked as a manager in the railway following independence.

Can we have a tabulated list of members and their biradari please. :pop:

Thats normal in rural punjab, the traits you are talking about are usually taken in to account in cities. Rural punjab caste still matters.

Punjabis are very clanish kind of society, even the socially forward indigenous castes of punjab (Jatts, rajput, gujjars, arains etc. ) also do not intermarry with one another. This is very different from kashmiris whose forward castes like Butt, Dar, Lone, Mir etc freely intermarry with one another eventhough these castes in kashmir valley are as distinct as jatts, rajputs, gujjars, arains etc are in punjab.

in indian Punjab anyone will marry with jatts but jatts wont marry with anyone else but jatt..now a days people are changing though. one of my cousin said he wont marry if they wont allow him to marry girl of his choise. after so many years he is now getting married with himachali hindu girl.

after Haryana jats..even Punjabi jatts wanna get reservation from government..dunno if they will b able to get it.
They have a different culture and they are so proud that they are now classified as a Backward Class.

WTF!This even makes Amarinder Singh (Maharaja of Patiala) a person from a Backward Class

Lozz what a thread and pakistanies here say that in pakistan there is no caste system lolzzz
What we have in pakistan is a clan system, people belong to certain clans and take pride in those clans. It is same in all muslim countries especially southern arabic countries where your have people taking pride in their clans such as shammar, tamim, qahtani etc.
