Those so-called rebels ( "moderate rebels" who behead people, eat the organs of Syrian soldiers ) and throw people from top of buildings, want to establish a Taliban state. Do you want that too ? Does your Syrian friend want that ?

If they are the majority why should they let themselves become subject to an alawi dictator? Even if he didn't do anything bad, the fact that he is an alawi is enough reason to fight against him.

Does that mean in India the BJP should rule forever because they claim to represent the majority religion in India ( Hinduism ) ? And like the Alawi in Syria the Muslims in India are minority. What should we do about that ? Do we let continue India to be a majoritarian dictatorship or like the Syrian Baath movement, enable a progressive movement to govern India ?
