i'm not saying we should let people abuse it there needs to be some restrictions for it like only ppl 18 and above can use it giving it to someone under 12 as a federal crime and punishment would be time in a work camp something very serious

and i would not allow my kids to be a junkie if that is your point but i would not mind them smoking marijuana to take a load off or clear there heads ( of course at a very young age i would tell them to stay away far from it) which is what most people do it for, you know the suicide rates would surely decrease if marijuana was legal

It's one thing for people to smoke illegal stuff by themselves, but the government should never encourage it. Legalizing cannabis would essentially be encouraging it. I just can't see any good coming to the society by allowing people to smoke weed legally.

if it is abused then the abuser must be arrested and charged for the abuse end of story look at amsterdam having appropriate laws to deter abuse work and its a cash crop growing it will add to the GDP i get your view of abuse but Marijuana does no harm toe the human body and if it used through edible or smoked by a vaporizer the respiratory system does not feel the harmful effects of smoke

Marijuana is considered harmless because it has yet to be legalized.

Once Cannabis has been legalized though, we'll see how much drivers get into accidents because they were "high", or how many people get killed by lung cancer due to long-term excessive marijuana smoking.

^ Marijuana does not cause lung cancer medically proven fact. it cannot harm you in anyway and i've driven "high" several times nothing was wrong there is a difference between being high off weed and being drunk of alcohol, one relaxes and clears your head the other actually impairs your ability to operate machinery and i'm not saying one should drive after using Cannabis in fact that should apply to cannabis legalization laws

Although Marijuana is harmless, it is a waste of time. Doesn't India already have a huge drug problem in their Punjab region? First it's Marijuana, then after that what's next? Opium, Hashish, or Heroin? I hope you guys can connect the dots. I think there are better things people can do, and we should encourage that in our societies. I mean If India stops producing athletes because of this crap, I'll be pissed when the world cup comes again.

Interesting post. Cannabis is already partly legal in India as Bhang. Frankly I find it preferable as bhang than smoking it. Legalizing it will be a problem though. I've lost count of the number of guys in my hostel during my college days missing out exams because they were stoned.
Not to mention the multiple times they have had the urge to go swimming in the river at midnight, drive the car while sitting on the passenger seat/back seat or to try and fly off the top of a 5 storey building.
