i don't know about others but Rajputs r definitely kshatriya
brahmans were knowledge intellects
kshtriya were warriors n rulers
Vashya were traders
n Shudra were basically sweepers
when u r acknowledge that Rajputs were warriors n rules then why wouldn't they be kshatriyas
Shudras are those who are supposed to work in service industry according to old Varna system, for example I work in software dev of a US investment bank, so according to Varna system, since I work in service industry, I should be a Shudra. My fiance, being true to her Varna(a Mukherjee) is doing PHD, that makes her a Brahmin according to Varna system.
Joe is right, old Khastriyas have long been dead(except may be some Varmans here and there). Rajputs were later import, if I'm not wrong first mention of Rajputs in written history was only during 5th-6th century. Jatts, Gurjars etc mostly farmers, land owners etc. Some of them although have traditionally worked as professional soldiers.
