I'm against such breaks.We are a secular country so every employee in a company should be made to work equal number of hours every week. No community should get any special privileges.

I live in UAE which is an Islamic country,one of my ex-colleague was once asked to quit her habit of taking 5prayer breaks because she was unproductive. Need I say more?

Give them 1.5 hours break to offer their namaaz, but get them to stay back after office hours for extra 1.5 Hours.

Namaaz-offerers aren't really the root of any problem....in most cases they are the 'do gooders' offering solutions.....

Yes, UAE the Islamic paradise that give "equal" rights to 24% non muslims. :coffee:


Article 313 of the UAE Federal Punitive Law. - "A fine not exceeding Dh2,000 or a jail term of not more than one month shall be slapped against fasting breakers in public during daytime in the holy month of Ramadan"

Narrow mindedness you can call it secular or whatever, if I had a Hindu employee and if he wanted to take leave everyday I won't object, because I am grown up and I know how to handle matters.

Should I be interested in this case without knowing the whole facts? I work for a foreign company,a company that foreigners in management, I take my time to pray, smoke etc but nobody has ever questioned me for it or had any issues, because I tend to complete my work well before the timeline. So you were saying?

I am sure India too has labor code and laws, just read them sometime. And by giving leave I meant a break, if you are not aware ...... legally employees are entitled to one hour break after certain number of work hours. And I am sure same like Pakistani laws Indian laws would have a how many man hours a week a company or an organisation work ...... over and above that is overtime.

And my living Islamic country has no say in the company I work for. Please read your labor laws hopefully you will get a solution there and won't need to react.

Cut their salary for those hours on pro rata basis . Leave your religion at home when you come to work . This minority appeasement has never worked and never will .

I have read the article and it made sense to me nothing objectionable. Any additional time can be compensated with overtime, there are always ways of reaching a solution but for that you need to take of your colored glasses.

:hitwall: Mohtarma sitting after office hours doesn't necessarily mean its overtime that you will be paid for at double. Overtime happens when you have crossed your max man hours in a week, suppose if 48 hours is max legal limit, any employee who falls short of 48 hours can make up for his hours sitting late.
