I have read the article and it made sense to me nothing objectionable. Any additional time can be compensated with overtime, there are always ways of reaching a solution but for that you need to take of your colored glasses.
Sirji in a ideal company, everyone has to be dependent on someone else to get a job done collectively. Let's say if I have to get an input from someone to get the overall output work done, its thoroughly unfair to wait 1.5 odd hours and me sitting overtime cos of it. I had muslim colleagues back home, and they did go to friday prayers on their own merit, but were back as soon as possible. This is an unwritten code. But by sanctioning it officially its a pain in the !$$ for colleagues working with them. Normally sane types understand the job given to them, some even skip prayers to get work done. But there are nut cases too who take undue advantage of these rules
As if i dont understand what overtime is.Mohtarma sitting after office hours doesn't necessarily mean its overtime that you will be paid for at double. Overtime happens when you have crossed your max man hours in a week, suppose if 48 hours is max legal limit, any employee who falls short of 48 hours can make up for his hours sitting late.

You're clearly asking for different timings, and why? No employee irrespective of their religion should be given any special treatment.
So say it simply that you don't respect an employee, he means nothing.
How did you conclude that?
Let me reiterate, no employee should get a special treatment (which should not be misconstrued as employee of certain section will be discriminated). Capiche?
Oh! This is what happens all the time, when you want to treat everyone equally, there will always be a section demanding for some special privileges. When denied, they will emotionally blackmail you.If you are not willing to respect and grant an employee what he holds dear, you are not respecting him, but consider him just an employee, same as a donkey who shouldn't ask anything.
Let me reiterate, there is no need to be stubborn, they are not slaves they are employees and their demands should be considered and can be met easily within legal framework. There is no need to make it Hindu vs Muslim thing, that won't be very productive and wise.

You know what?
I'm not banging my head against a wall. Just being wise.
When I worked for Vodafone in Australia, I simply spoke to my manager about Jummah prayers and tied the break in with my lunch break.
In turn, I would offset the extra bit of time by taking slightly shorter lunches a couple of days. Furthermore, if there was a meeting or a working lunch somewhere, I skipped jummah that week.
Simple compromise and adjustments made by all so as to keep disruptions to a minimum and I never had a complaint from anyone. I spoke to ppl on my team to ensure they too were OK with it...and they were more than accommodating.
Ppl saying no employees should get special treatment....haha...what world do.you live in? Depending on your worth...employers make ALL kinds of concessions and give special treatment.
At my current employer...I work from home on Thursdays...only two of us in a department of 35 are allowed to do this - special treatment
