What does Biden Presidency mean for East Asia?

Tiger, it’s never too late. Biden has the chance to correct the mistakes Trump made. Trump created a mess. Most Vietnamese including myself supported Trump because he pushed factories into Vietnam. However when he created chaos everywhere, when he alienated friends and allies, many Vietnamese turned against him. Biden can correct this. You shouldn’t laugh too early. China’s biggest problem: you have money but no friends. Biden should keep tariffs on chinese goods. The US should encourage factories to relocate to us. I am pretty sure, we can make everything China makes. The dollar still dominates the world. The Yuan is still no where to see.

Is Vietnam still under GSP ??

I follow analysts such as Kyle Bass (Hayman Capital) and Leland Millar ( China Beige Book), their estimates of China's real gdp numbers are from 2008-2016 an average of 2% less than official numbers, around 3% less from 2016-2019 whilst 2020 is going to be even worse. Their methodology is quite robust including a broad range of indicators such as tax filings. By those calculations, China's actual gdp is approx 25% lower than reported, which would equal $14.3T - $3.6t = $10.7t up to 2019.

lol, you wanna still take these idiots seriously?

They are just another bunch of China doomsayers like Gordon Chang.

Thanks to their misinformation, Trump absolutely hits on the China wall with an unprecedented fiasco that costs his re-election.

Because of them, the entire Trump family will soon get prosecuted after Trump is out of the office.

China has been adapted with the US tariff now, and our export has not been diminished and currency becomes even stronger.

And our domestic market is poised to overtake the US market every soon, and we are not that dependent with the US trade anymore.

Vietnam is too small take supplant China in every area.

You don't have the adequate infrastructure, and your supply chain still depends on us.
Germany with a population smaller than Vietnam exported goods worth $1.53 trillion in 2019. Being a exports powerhouse doesn’t require big population. I don’t know where you get the impression only big China can make goods.
Majority of chinese electronics exports come from western companies. Once those factories move your electronics exports sink to negligible figures.
Ok chinese folks are big in number, however Africa too.

Because the CPC is the most powerful organization on this planet that ever existed.

The coronavirus pandemic has already demonstrated to the whole world what kind of task the CPC can accomplish.

no the US government under Trump removed us from the list.

Are you sure ?? What I though is that Vietnam, India, Indonesia, China, Singapore etc have been removed from developing country list but for GSP status some countries are still allow to remain inside like Indonesia. For Indonesia case we have the extension just about 5 days ago when Pompeo visited our country.

China healing.
Trying to ease tensions between S.Korea and Japan.
More political negotiations in Afghanistan.
Pressure on Russia.
Pulling back from Modi.
Not likely, for Modi. the vice president of the US mother is a hindu from Tamil Nadu.

Indonesia is the only country that Trump allows to continue with Gsp. Worse, Trump begins to impose tariffs on Vietnam goods. That runs counter his anti China strategy. Seems America first prevails over anti Chinese rhetorics. Not good. If he wants to establish a anti China coalition then he must stop such action.

You can make semiconductors? Write globally competitive software? Aircraft and spacecraft? CNC machinery? High speed rail? Ships?

Vietnam can't even make stainless steel from 1840. Your primitive steel mills still make carbon steel.

Kyle Bass already lost millions betting against China.

He is going to go bankrupt in 18 months due to his delusions.

You can believe whatever you want. I just hope you're smarter with your money.

What’s special about stainless steel?
Even if true we can’t make it then we import from China. More important is this, in number we make 5x more steel than Thailand. Hoa phat a Vietnamese steel maker just doubles the sales.

My bet:

the US will rejoin Tpp.
Thanks heavens Vietnam as Tpp member is offered a huge opportunity.
We will export cars. We will flood the US with cheap but high quality products.

What are your bets?
LOL @ TPP

You're still masturbating over that? It's gone. Even if Biden wanted to rejoin, he would need 2/3 of votes in US senate to ratify the agreement. He can't even secure half the seats.

Enjoy being China's Mexico.

Stainless does not rust - it is permanent. It does not outgas. It is biologically safe. It can be used in high value added products like semiconductor instruments, medical implants, etc.

Carbon steel rusts - it is a cheap material for most applications and even with anti-corrosion paint must be used in highly restricted indoors environments.

The cheapest stainless steel is 3x more expensive than carbon steel.

You can import it, but you can't make anything from it, because you also don't have a semiconductor instrument, medical implant, aerospace, etc. industry.

You neither have the capability to make it nor the demand to consume it.

You are stuck in the low income trap.

Ok you are the hero. Sorry but making stainless steel is basically primitive: burning oxygen and carbon out of iron ore. After burning process you add chrome and other precious metals to make the steel more robust more strength. Nothing special. It’s not like making Icbm. That I learned in high school.

We also learned in high school how computer chips are made...

He will cancel freedom of passage in SCS and tell those previous under Trump protection, 'Good luck and defend yourself. You are alone!' :enjoy:
