What's new

What are the most lactose tolerant areas of the world (Arabia, Europe and Pakistan leading)

The South Asian Lassi drink is not comparable to Laban, Doogh or Aryan as additional ingredients are used when making Lassi.

Lassi equivalents exists in the Arab world but they are not called Laban. Nowadays many modern fusions have emerged like elsewhere in the world.

However cold Laban with mint is great stuff. Add some high quality dates and for example almonds and you have a great snack that will give you a lot of energy.

Neanderthals were lactose intolerant and not lactose tolerant bro. See my previous post and links. I doubt that there is a connection.

I know lassi tastes different, I've had both drinks pretty frequently but I've never been much of a laban fan.

It would probably be better with almonds or dates, admittedly I have only tried it with mint.

Yeah, it appears my guess was just that: a guess (and a silly one at that).

My brother told me that drinking wine is also a relatively new thing in China. Is this correct? For example the earliest evidence of wine growing dates back to the Neolithic period in the Arab world/Western Asia. Our ancestors used to drink mostly wine pre-Islam or anise drinks such as Arak which is still consumed by Christian Arabs in mainly Sham but not only.

What did Chinese drink of alcohol traditionally? Beer (originates in Iraq) mostly?

Lassi is not consumed in Arabia/Middle East but it looks similar to how old-fashioned Laban is done minus the additions as per the Wikipedia page about lassi.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lassi

Same family and they taste similar. Turks have Aryan as well if I am not wrong. Central Asians use kefir. There are many regional variants and 100's of recipes to make it.

I tried the Iranian Doogh in UAE once and it was similar to Laban.

Since you live in Arabistan ( :shout: ) have you tasted laban? How do you say it compares with doogh? To me it is very similar.

Are you Iranian Arab, Lur or Persian (most genuine Persians live in Southern Iran) if I may ask?

Most people in Arabia (Eastern Arabia but not only) who have ancestral ties to Iran next door are from Southern Iran (Iranian Arabs, Lurs, Southern Persians and Baloch) and there is much similarity. I am curious, knowing Iraqi and Arabian cuisine very well, how Southern Iranian cuisine is or more precisely the cuisine of Khuzestan.

I imagine a lot of seafood (love it) as well, at least among the Iranian Arabs.
Well no I didn't drink laban but as I like doogh a lot I probably also like it .and I introduce myself as Iranian Persian but as a matter of fact I knew that I have some lor ancestor from my mother side and as my father side were living in Ahvaz for as long as I knew (which was a Persian and lor city :p: before 8 year war with Iraq) and around Ahvaz there were many Arab tribe it won't be news for me if I had some Arab ancestry from that side.

And in Iran its rare if you find some family without intermarriage with other ethnicities. You knew when we are sitting we make a lot of jokes for other ethnicities but when it come to marriage and business and .... Who really care which ethnicity you are dealing with b its the last thing that come to mind.
About the foods there are lots of sea dishes and a lot more of spicy dishes but I'm not a person to be able to answer that question . you need some body who spent his life preparing those dishes.

Saudis, Yemenis etc. are well-known for their lactose intolerance. For instance, they never buy dairy products and food with milk at our university.

Arab

Did i read Arab?

Arabs are Bad. Stop arabization of Pakistan. Arabs are all bloodthirsty uncivilised barbarians.

and god forbid they use machines made by China... holly molly that's the limit any one can indulge in evil.
and every one in Pakistan knows Arab milk is fake and also their claim about dairy industry is fake.

On a serious note, I swear to God, those machines in Saudi dairy industry are made in Sweden and Denmark, commissioned by natives of Sweden, Denmark and others incl. Pakistanis but non Chinese. But as they say ignorance is a bliss.

Dude you are shocking us with information that Saudis actually go to university!
Aren't they suppose to be uneducated dessert dwellers, upon which we should declare war for being so backward.
Look at this dude @Saif al-Arab he even thinks that Saudis have huge dairy industry, he even posted the pictures of some modern dairy, which does not even exist in dreams of the high cultured defence.pk members.
Shouldn't he explain that where does all the milk goes than!
Truth is that the names of dairy industry he mentioned, are existing... at least since past 20 years... Is he trying to tell us that Saudis are 50 years ahead in application of technology and advance processes as compare to rest of the region!
Shouldn't he be reported and banned for making such towering claims, which are completely in conflicts to the interests of Islamic republic.

imagine the shock if you notice the milk is from goats :D

I must praise you for your subtile trolling. It never disappoints. Not sure what more I need to add.

It's simply too stupid to comment on.

Arabia, a region, where many of the animals that produce milk were first domesticated in the world and where milk and dairy products have been a stable dish and source of food for millennia upon millennia, is now "well-known for their lactose intolerance" despite every official data on this topic proving just the opposite (like this thread) and the ground realities (KSA being the largest dairy producer in the region).

Dear lord.

I don't know if this subtile anti-Arab behavior from you (while at the same time admitting that the same Arabs have influenced all non-Arab Muslim groups more than any other ethnic group by far) but maybe it has something to do with your Kurdish ancestry which is somewhat strange as well seeing that most Kurds in Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria have a favorable view of Arabians.

Anyway while I enjoy some of your comments on topics that you have some knowledge about, I also find your trolling funny as it tends to be more sophisticated as well. I will give you credit for that.

Our Kurdish-Turkish friend lives in either Germany or Netherlands (I think the latter) and there Saudi Arabian people let alone students can be counted on a few hands. If he supposedly knows 1-2 Saudi Arabian students (lol), the reason why they might not buy dairy products in the university cantina might be because they consider the quality low or the taste very different to what is sold in KSA. Something that I can attest to. Other than Denmark (which is a country famous for its dairy products in Europe) diary products in Europe taste worse.

That is why hordes of locals tend to venture to Arab-owned grocery stores where Arab dairy products are sold. That's how Arab cheeses, laban, yoghurts, deserts have gained popularity. Most regular supermarkets do not sell such products so people visit the cheaper grocery stores which also tend to have a bigger variety of "exotic" products.

Seppoki is always an Option

Or blowing up as my brain did after seeing that post my dear friend!

Fun aside, I do like our Turkish-Kurdish friend by large although I find some of his views (subtile trolling) entertaining and rather sad at times but well it is harmless so no biggie.

Yes, let us also forget that Arabia has been famous for dairy products for millennia and that many of the stable dishes in the Arab world and Middle East that use dairy products originate from Arabia.

University? What is that?

KSA only has the highest ranked universities in the Muslim world. Heard about this stuff a while ago but actually I never saw a university in my entire life. Is it a majlis or a coffee shop? Or maybe some kind of tent?

Check this out guys.

It's a tent.

Great stuff.

We just need a few genuine Bedouins milking some sheep, goats, camels and cows. All 100% organic. Made in Horn of Satan aka Najd.
