WELCOME TO NATO: Biden announces he'll notify Congress of his intent to designate Qatar a "major non-NATO ally."

Major non-NATO ally (MNNA) is a designation given by the United States government to close allies that have strategic working relationships with the US Armed Forces but are not members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). While the status does not automatically include a mutual defense pact with the United States, it still confers a variety of military and financial advantages that otherwise are not obtainable by non-NATO countries.

Hmm..lots of the planet covered

When you join them, it becomes clear that you are not with Islam. A verse in the Quran states this.

It's ill-fated for Muslim countries to side with or partner up with NATO.

It means nothing. Remember Pakistan was a MNNA.
Best stay away from these leaches
USA need Qatar more than Qatar needs USA. Best for Qatar to play both sides. USA is flip flopping big time in the MENA. USA backed the GCC in its spat with Qatar. USA is now condemning the Houthis, after years of portraying them as victims and complaining about the GCC.

USA booted Pakistan from its camp (despite the leaving MNNA on paper).....preferring Ashraf Ghani and New Delhi   . This has been worse for USA than Pakistan......not what USA strategists were expecting.

USA foreign policy had more pragmatic strategy in the past. USA foreign policy today is largely dictated by which ever factional lobbies are in sway in Washington. Strongest foreign policy lobbies over the last few years have been the Israel, India and Afghanistan lobbies,.....obliviously not good for Pakistan. Perception of most Muslim countries in Washington is poor (including the all key MENA players like GCC, Turkey, and Iran).

These dumbed down foreign policy is leading USA focusing on alliance with only a handful of countries (Israel, India, Japan and the Anglo fragments....UK, Canada, Australia). Problem is that group of countries are not enough to help the USA in the future global power struggle. If MENA tilted to Eurasia like it is already drifting toward.....most USA allies would struggle to have heat and electricity in any big confrontation with Eurasia. Something some USA strategist are now realizing. :hitwall:

America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests. — Henry Kissinger.
Not true anymore. If you have influential lobby in Washington....you will always be a friend. USA foreign policy strategy has diminished big time since the 60's and 70's.

Bro some truths are not meant to be said so clearly lol. :astagh: .
You are only invited to the MENA party if Uncle Sam needs you and as soon as party is over, they pensioned you off.

Lots of countries that dont have influential lobby in Washington, yet are close friends.

Qatar should do more for being a mojor NATO ally :US

At this point, I don't see what more could Qatar give to the US. They already operate military bases from there and a lot of their weapons are US-made. Beyond that there is very little they can do. This seems more like a snub to the UAE and the Saudis after the former canceled the F-35 jet deal and the Saudis invited Macron and ignored Biden.

Just gas supply for Germany and Europe if Russia cuts off supply when the Ukraine invasion happens.
