Now I know why Rahul Gandhi is such a joke in Indian politics. At least Modi was smart enough to not militarily retaliate against the Chinese by opening fire ... sometimes you need a coward to be in charge just to avoid losing the northern half of your country. Better be surrender Modi and lose 1000 square kilometers of your territory than be someone like Gandhi and potentially lose 1,000,000 square kilometers, including Delhi.

India has not changed much since 1858. It is still a colonial state divided by religion, caste and language. It is still dependent on the west. It is still mostly a resource extraction economy designed to use the labor and land of India to dig up resources from the ground and send them to the west.

That is why Indian industrialization is proceeding about as fast as it did in British Empire times.
