It was always problematic. But my friend said one more thing which was that there is no business class in Sindh or even punjab much like we have. So the businessmen make good money and don't have to fight hard like in India. So ultimately, they chose money over security. It was all good until the kidnappings started and they started emigration to the western countries with the support of sindhi diaspora.
Now I know you or him are just making this up. Seriously, kidnapping?
Bangladesh was always going to happen. It was impossible for the 2 Pakistan's to be one country, Indra Gandhi did what anyone would have done.
We are a different culture and society. BD were heavily influenced by Tagore, who he himself was anti-Pakistan, and most of their intelligentsia were Hindu. Remember that East Bengal still had a very high Hindu population which was sympathetic to India.
Pakistan has gotten more Islamic and our identity has become more and more concrete with time, based primarily on our heritage (IVC, Gandhara, Iranics, Turks, etc.) We have drifted to West Asia and Central Asia.
Choudry Rahmat Ali did not include Bengal in his nomenclature for Pakistan for a reason.
In this case I view separation as a blessing for Pakistan. Now we are potentially discussing future merger with Afghans on people to people basis, it is an exciting time.
BD also has taken off in a big way, and we have nothing but prayers and well wishes for them. Afterall, they are our beloved Muslim brothers and sisters.
