WB considering aid to Dhaka-Ctg high-speed train, 4 more projects

Most of the major cities from capital city Dhaka are less than 160 mi away. There is absolutely no reason for a high-speed train running at 150+ miles plus per hour at this moment even if it is a PPP type project because of the massive interruption by the construction of the new lines.

Upgrading present lines with trains travelling at 80-90 mile an hour should suffice. A two hour travel time is fast enough for a poor country like Bangladesh.

The current line is 320km as it does not go in a straight line.

With stops 150-60km/h would take more like 3 hours which is far too slow.

The idea is to allow commute distances between Dhaka and Chittagong and the stops inbetween.

By the time the line is built and BD needs to start repaying the Chinese loan, it would become a middle-income country.

衣服的优点在于它轻便,是每人体重约 70 公斤的乘客的完美替代品。

这些托盘的重量不会超过它们更换的乘客座椅的重量。

The more you think about all the possibilities of what you can do with this line, the better it seems.

Not to mention the massive image boost it will be for both foreign tourists and business people.

Like I say, the line is a no brainer and probably the only reason that BD has not already signed the contract is the pandemic. It will probably now not be ready till 2032-2033 as it would take a full 8-10 years from contract signing till when the first trains start to carry passengers and freight.
Promoting the operation of intercity railways is also a good choice

I would not pay much attention to the ones that are pessimistic as they will always say that BD is too poor and the money is needed for other "more important" things.

When the line is completed then BD would be a middle-income country with enough purchasing power to make the line economically viable.

They miss all the economic and image benefits that a line such as this can bring to BD. This is in areas of tourism and also the signal it sends to the world that this is a modern country that will be nice and easy to travel around.

BD and China will likely sign the contract by 2024 to create a high-speed railway between Dhaka and Chittagong by the early 2030s. Another great example of BD-China China cooperation.

Considering what is happening ( pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war) as we speak how can you talk about all will end in a way you say it would. There maybe another external factor or two that can take Bangladesh off track and will take off track.
In software there is this happy path, which means a user will only behave in a single/given way, Any SW developed without considering alternate ways is doomed to fail.
Life is like that !
Only a child thinks like that,.

These projects are paying dividends almost straight away. Inshallal we have hydropower from Nepal and Bhutan soon.

Our nuclear plant be up and running soon, with cheap and abundance source of energy and a work force that brings industry and domestic industrial growth.

We have padma Bridge that's bringing dividends straight away.

We have matarbari deep sea port, although the port is not ideal due to interference. It will also pay dividends soon.

The more things we have paying dividends, the more stronger we are. Or might as well become vessel state for bindians. Even then as a bindian vessel we will have mud thrown our way.

Nuclear plant will reduce energy imports(save $), deep sea port will earn $ from the ships. However, high speed rail revenue will be in Taka but the loan needs to be paid back in foreign currency like $.
We need to see some kind of feasibility study. I think WB won't give money if they think Bangladesh can't pay back the loan.

With added business to business domestically, and transporting light products at fast and cost effective via time/ travel for will make bdeshi businesses even more competitive.

We need to be domestic orientated how ever we must have domestic economy.

I think bdeshi Dhaka middle class spend about 5 billion usd in bindian land on just tourism only.

Chittagong High speed will capture at least of half of that.

It's no brainer. There is also a tourism investments happening in that part of the country.

So yes in a way it is brining foreign currency

It will make bdesh a more dynamic economy

The problem is that you thinking far too shallowly here.

1) Pandemic is over and statistically it is highly unlikely we will have another one for many more decades at least.

2) Effects of Ukraine-Russian war have already been "baked" into the world economy and in essence most of the damage has already been done in terms of higher energy and food prices. New sources of food and energy have and will open up if there is no end to the war soon.

3) BD will have greater things to worry about than a 7 billion US dollar loan from China to build the line if the world economy stagnates over the next 1-2 decades.

You are fundamentally a nice guy but seem to lack both that deeper analytical ability but also I think you are reading the wrong sources for your information. I would advise you to read and watch wider sources of information than you are currently doing.

Please re-read and think about the posts I have already made about this line and you will come to the conclusion that this project is a "no brainer" and that is the reason that BD will almost certainly sign the contract with China by 2024.

Sorry got a massive headache.

What I meant is that yes, we are an export orientated country. However at the same time we need to pay heed to our own domestic economy.

By growing our own domestic economy, it will act as an buffer to international events.

It will make our economy more robust and dynamic and stronger.
