Watch Egyptian-Turkish naval exercise
(Video) Dozens of vessels, as well as F-16 jets and choppers, take part in one of biggest military maneuvers held in region in recent months
VIDEO - While Iran held a major naval exercise in the Persian Gulf, a similar maneuver was carried out not far from Israel. Several days ago, the Turkish and Egyptian armies concluded one of the biggest military exercises held in the region in recent months.
Egyptian media published footage from the drill, called "Sea of Friendship", with classical music in the background.

The forces simulated a frontal clash between naval forces, exercised methods of defense in high seas, facing hostile vessels and firing live ammunition at aircraft.

The published images showed the naval commando units and submariners of both countries exercising together.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the importance of his country's navy several months ago. Erdogan, who visited Egypt in September, was asked if Turkey's plan to send warships to escort Turkish vessels headed to Gaza could lead to a military clash.
*
He responded negatively, but added: "The Turkish navy is prepared to face every possibility, even the worst ones."
*
Erdogan used the interview to the al-Shuruq newspaper to attack Israel once again. "All we said was that warships would defend the Turkish vessels against an attack when passing through international waters. This is our legitimate right, and no one has the right to oppose it.
*
"This made Israel angry, as it wanted to defend its takeover of international waters in the Middle East," he said.
