What's new

Watch banned film "India's daughter" here!

Why do you wear an underwear and a pant on top of it ? Why do women wear blouse ?

It looks like we are trying to hide our own body. If we are hiding something it can only embarrasses us or bring more embarrassment.

So in short, we should all be walking around nude. Right ? After all I am sure we are are all stronger than that.

If a messenger comes into my home brining a message on how to raise my kids, You can BET I will shoot him.

Or at best kick him out of my house.

Indian Rapists and Lawyers are no different from Rapists and lawyers from any part of the world. Unless you think that Indians are somehow different and Westerners are somehow more superior

Take such retarded thinking to the congress, where they send their kids to be educated in england so that they can rule India. LOL.

Now really, just yesterday I asked you not to make retarded statements using such a sancrosanct Hindu term as your profile name here and here you go persisting in doing so :disagree:

How many western lawyers were you exposed to ? Lawyers do not justify the crimes of their clients out of court. In any decent country, a lawyer's ethics would dictate that he/she need not agree with his/her client's conduct but should represent the best interests of his/her client. This does not entail justifying the conduct of the client in the media. In any event, those lawyers seem to be expressing their personal views. God help India if these are the kind of lawyers representing the common man.

If a person comes to your house telling you that your son is a rapist and proving to you that the rape is due to the perceptions of women being spread in your house, you would kick them out ? If so, you seriously need help

Stop blaming Congress for all your woes. They are out just like the colonialists are out. Move on and embrace your liberty from those whom you claim enslaved you or else mentally you will continue remaining their slave

@Bang Galore WRT legalities:
The legal violations by the “India’s Daughter” documentary

They have been ignoring notices from as early as april 2014.
See this is entirely unacceptable.

I have no issue with the filming of this documentary- it needs to be done and a lot more beside it so as to fix the appalling situation for many women in india BUT the BBC and the filmmaker has been entirely duplicitous in the way they went about making such a documentary. They got what they wanted by promising whatever the authorities asked for and then once they had that they went back in the deals and have not upheld their end of the bargain which is totally improper.

This isn't a question of shooting the messenger, like I said the messege needs to be out there, but a question of standing up for oneself.

India shouldn't just lay down and allow itself to be trampled on like this. The BBC have shown they have no regard for india, it's authorities and officials and why should they be protected? Banning all future BBC projects in India and banning all involved in the making of this film from visiting India would not be an overreaction but more than appropriate.

This is the BBC seeing itself above india and its institutions and this cannot be tolerated surely.

Stop pretending to be the spokesperson for western lawyers.

There are plenty of lawyers who defend their clients out of conviction, or for money, or from a sense of duty and will say all the is necessary that will help his client get out of jail. But this is not a testimony on lawyers so ton't try to make it into one.

Don't build pathetic strawmen to make your case. You can twist my words to satisfy your own spite, but it makes no point except demonstrate your own prejudice.

Its about time you started embracing your freedom and stop looking at the west for validation. Bet it the status of Indian women or be it about religious freedom. Rather than pretend to preach to me, take your own advice.

Can you imagine what would happen if an Indian journalist, that lives in India would had done this? Even if any credible person have wanted to do it, this simply would not be possible from within India.
I don't see why not. I've seen some equally gut-wrenching documentaries made by NDTV about social issues in India (they produce many a year) with no issue at all.

In this case a foreign journalist working for a foreign media outlet has used underhand means to produce such a documentary and this is all I am raising objection to. The rest of the content needs to be out for indian society to see.

.
1. First they interviewed extremely stupid and biased people, no man was talking about equal treatment of women while the truth is that a majority of Indian men do believe in equality.
2. The old lady says that all this was due to the patriarchy and the men weren't letting women to treated equally when the video shows large number of men protesting and that India had strict, in fact gender biased rape laws even before Nirbhaya case including the anti dowry laws.
3. There is a mention of Delhi as the Rape capital when in fact the rape cases per 1000 of Delhi is not very high compared to developed countries.

.
Where is freedom of speech/expression? And don't know why showing the mindset of a rapist make you guys so angry
Frankly. No one is angry. Everyone in India is asking for removal of ban and want to see and show this documentary. Govt on the otherside has its reports. Its natural that this documentary can be misused by a particular section of the society to fuel even more antisocial sentiments.

One version says that this is another attempt to bring dharna politics back as an intent to stall the economy ( Take reference of ur country). In here, dharna against such social crimes. Frankly, its a thin line when u say for certian issues, dharnas are necessary sometimes but they do take a toll on normal proceedings of people's life. Hence, govt does what it has to. With this documentry, people might come out again and ask for actions and put govt in tight space tough its true that govt is trying to create institutions for such crimes which again wud take some time. Govt needs space and hence refrains from letting people's sentiments arouse.

But, I would be happy if this topic is taken out in parliament. Its we who will force these politicians to come out with serious laws to eradicate this mentality. Naming and Shaming is gonna be the next big thing in India.

And here I though implementing the Rule of Law was the solutions to all our problems.

The documentary had its flaws of course (bias,a clear agenda, and sensationalist tendencies) but the overall message needed to be put out there.

Like I said, it would have been better for this to have been an indian documentary. With it being a BBC documentary The perception is that india isn't addressing its own social issues and needs the foreign media to point out the flaws for India which is entirely demeaning and patronising to say the least.

IT is wrong at So Many Levels...... and the worst part is, people just don't get it.

Umm, my credentials would permit me to speak about western lawyers. I ain't here to impress so I will stop right there.

Your point about lawyers may be restricted to India and Pakistan perhaps, so it does remain a testimony to lawyers in India. The statements by those two lawyers until sanctioned by their Bar Council, remains the image of Indian lawyers.

It is about time that you extracted those good values extorted by the west and introspected about the bad values in India. Denying that Indians in general do have some quaint and antiquated cultural values will simply make a buffoon of you. A point in support of my claim remains the attitude of the rapists and their lawyers in this documentary.

Indians will never be free until all Indians are free. Indian women and women generally in India are regarded as secondary and shrews by a huge number of men unless they dress in a certain manner, behave in a certain manner and confine themselves to the kitchen. If that is freedom to you, heaven help the women whom you associate with.

I am not here to preach. I told you before, if you want to listen to a sermon then go for sathsangh. I am on a forum to express my views on topics. If it hurts the sentiments of anybody including you, then that is too bad.

I think the problem is that many are mistaking criticisms of this documentary (for which there are many ) for an attempt to deny the societal issues in India (this is certainly how the BBC is spinning it on their website and some here are mistakingly projecting). One can criticise this documentary and still be absolutely behind the addressing of these social issues in india which of course has got to be a priority for every indian.

The manner this documentary was shot and the BBC's subsequent aloof nature leaves a very bitter taste and says more about the BBC's attitude towards india as a whole and its institutions than anything else. They seem to think themselves above the rules and laws of the land which is what I have serious issue with NOT the content.

What rule of law? Did u notice, in the end Mukesh and his lawyer says, 1st convict other accused. 1st convict the MPs in parliament who are accused of Rape, Murder.

Now temme, if govt makes it open, wont the crowd come back on streets asking for conviction of all MPs as promised by BJP before elections?

All such things are obvious.

Your credentials mean nothing except what you say in pdf.

You want to talk about lawyers, open a new thread.

When Europe and US had a per capital income of 537$ their women were not even allowed to vote  .........spare me such nonsense. I plan on sticking to my Very Own Value systems. Since you have none, feel free to suck up to the west.

India will never be free until people like you exist who have mortgaged your soul to the west. And every BBC article just makes you more enslaved. Which is why this banning is such a good thing.

Since every Indian has a mother, a sister, a wife or a daughter and possible all of these, why do you assume social issues are not a priority for every Indian ?

Just by that crap which you typed above, you claim that India embraces a 19th century mentality of the west. Perhaps to you but certainly not to me and those Indians who associate with me. Stick with your caveman mentality. Hopefully the rest of Indians will strive for a better benchmark. Good luck to you :D
