This type of films were easily accessible in Pakistan when USSR invaded Afghanistan, even PTV also used to air such movies. If some one remembers the American Center Library adjacent to Fatima Jinnah Medical College, that library was practically littered with films describing atrocities of USSR in Afghanistan saying we both are believers of God , they have captured your homes and destroyed mosques a day will come when ………... Now what is happening in Afghanistan may be called “Tarikh Ka inteqam”

Very, very good work of compiling this stuff... I am sure this is the first time such a comprehensive compilation has been broadcast on public television (At least in Pakistan).

I cant believe i missed this... But some of the data on that show is recovered from stash of CD's recovered from Karachi during the raid on an AQ suspect. I remember the broadcast on DAWN a while back. What is worrying is that most of these CD's are actually not meant for local consumption but rather to entertain and motivate would be terrorists abroad.

This is also the first time public proof has been provided of ETIM training along the Pak/Afghan border. This is very interesting indeed.

JIRGA along with the Talat Hussain show are the only talk shows on local TV that have any substance.

Its refreshing to see some straight talk instead of wild conjectures.

The panel discussion has confirmed three widely held perceptions:

- TTP have close linkages with Afghan Taliban and Al Qaeda; Al Qaeda pulls a lot of the strings while staying in the background

- Funding for TTP comes most notably from the Global (Salafi)Jihadist network, and criminal activities.

- The local terrorists are home-grown and affiliated with various jihadi outfits like JM and LeJ who have joined TTP and Al Qaeda to pursue an 'ideological' agenda.

Jirga is a really good show on Geo along with Such to yeh hai on PTV with Syed Anwar ul Hassan and Brakfast at Dawn on Dawn TV hosted by a female Naveen (forgot her last name). But Jirga is very informative, I'll have to DVR it from now on.

I watched the re-run of the entire episode, very informative indeed. The report at the begining of the episode says it all about the condition in the tribal belt, fully occupied by forigners. Not only Uzbeks, who get mentioned alot, but Uzbek children, Chinese children, who's smuggling these kids here? Sudanese, Jordanians, Saudis and other Arab nationals, WTF is going on over there, one must ask himself.

These foreigners are being trained there and are carrying out attacks in Pakistan and yet we have people who insist this isn't our war and demand a halt to the operation. I mean really, we have tribe leaders asking COAS for help to kick out these foreigners from our land and some dilusional people think it's a war against our own people, it is if you regard these Uzbeks, somalians etc your own people.

Anyway, excellent job by Saleem Safi, a real eye opener. I would request mods to make this thread a sticky or at least this video.
