The aircraft carrier “Vikramaditya” Indian Navy (former Russian aircraft carrier “Admiral Gorshkov”) this week successfully completes sea trials of the factory in the White Sea. This was reported by Itar-Tass source in the shipbuilding industry.

“Experts” Sevmash “, where the upgraded aircraft carrier, are deeply gratified that during the trial which began June 8 in a sea of running the required characteristics of the spacecraft were not only sustained, but even exceeded,” – said the source.

“The ship operates in the test crew of our Navy, on board are also commissioning team, representatives of the” Sevmash “and the officers of Indian Navy,” – he added.

The source said that next week, “Vikramaditya”, after loading the fuel, water and food to take a course from the White Sea to the Barents Sea, “where he will begin test flights of the deck on a ship-based aviation group decked Russian MiG-29K.”

Previously, the spokesperson of the “Sevmash” Anastasia Nikitinskaya reported that “the testing program is designed for 124 days.”

A source in the shipbuilding industry confirmed that the aircraft carrier “Vikramaditya” will give the Indian Navy in December of this year.

As previously reported the official representative of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexei Kravchenko, sea trials on factory aircraft carrier “Vikramaditya” in the White Sea, “will test the ship’s main systems and components, main and auxiliary power systems, communication systems, navigation and others.”

In batch intergovernmental agreement signed in New Delhi in January 2004, the case of the Russian aircraft carrier “Admiral Gorshkov” to the Indian side handed over free of charge with the condition of its modernization, “Sevmash” and the air group of Russian-made equipment. Russia will also undertake training of the crew of an Indian aircraft carrier and will create an infrastructure-based ship in the Indian Ocean. The total contract value was originally estimated at 1.5 billion dollars, and all the work for the conversion of a ship in full-fledged aircraft carrier to be completed in 2008 However, the timing of the contract moved. The Russian side has expressed an underestimation of the amount of work and the need for additional payments to the modernization of the ship. March 12, 2010, during Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, signed an additional agreement on the revised cost of repair and modernization of the aircraft carrier “Vikramaditya” (“Almighty”). According to the Indian side, the purchase of Russian aircraft carrier will cost her 2.33 billion dollars. It is assumed that its life is 30 years old.

Since 2004, the Nevsky PKB, “Sevmash” contractors was made a tremendous amount of work: the ship is equipped with deck and diving board for the takeoff of MiG-29K, renovated and converted to new housing problem cruisers full of modern equipment, systems and mechanisms, laid new cable lines total length of more than two thousand miles. The aircraft carrier has received new radar and navigation systems, complex communication and control aircraft. As a result, in fact, created an entirely new ship.

“Admiral Gorshkov”, calling the first “Baku”, in the Northern Fleet was introduced in 1987 after a complete renovation and refurbishment of aircraft carrier tonnage was 45 tons, maximum length – 283.5 m, maximum width – 59.8 m The ship can carry 30 aircraft, including carrier-based MiG-29K fighter jets and helicopters. Number of crew – 1924 people.

yup, after initial trials now is the turn for extensive sea trials with of course mig 29ks on it roaring to the skies. hope there are no further issues found during sea trials & everything go as per scheduled since planning for sea trials is very compact of 124 days that means 4 months, so if the ship has to be commissioned on navy day (dec. 4th) everything must go smoothly.

It means the Indian navy standards are so obsolete that a retired soviet AAC is sufficient to fulfill their criteria...nothing special!
Whatever...:drag:....its always better to have something than to have nothing, and you don't know the extent of refurbishment done on it....BTW India's own indigenous ACC will soon be in water. So wait and watch how we build up our naval strength.

BTW i will really like if you paste same comment regarding old ACC to China who has bought Varyag....:D Lets see what will they say...

Yeah! Indian navy should have considered Pakistan navy as a role model and should have brought highly advanced, already retired frigates and aircrafts from other nations!

Unnecessary. Reported :D

Can anybody confirm which Jets will test flight deck operations ??? The 29Ks in Indian Navy or Russian Navy 29 ??? I heard they are different from Indian version.

I wish if we buy few F-35B so that we can have mix of 4+ and 5th generation fighter on decks of Vikadi and IAC-1.

Well considering you don't even know what the criteria they are referring to it just shows how ignorant and biased you are being. They could be referring to power generation or engine performance. And just so you know most of the internals have been gutted and replaced by world class equipment from India and the West so much of the equipment is bang up to date and thus could have exceeded certain requirements. Also the IN is praised everywhere for its high and professionals standards and the fact they are inducting world-class ships like P-17 and P-15A shows how high their standards are.

+can't wait to see flight trails commence next week- seeing Mig-29Ks operating of the deck for the first time will be a real treat!

It will be Russian test Mig-29Ks but IN pilots will be present.

Yes we raise our standards with respect to our enemy standard. Our rivals and enemy are of so low standard and low life that we also dont want to have high standards for them. If by chance our enmy gets some standard then we will increase ours also.

Does this carrier have toilets or are the crews suppose to defecate in the open sea like 40% of india's population. :undecided:

yes as a citizen of a dirt poor country... i dont expect much sensible posts from you... yes this billion $ ship do have toilets ... unlike 95% of poor dirt bangladeshis ... who defecate in open .. and also do remember your brothers... the 30 million+ illegal bangladeshi scums in India.. who mostly clean gutters of indian cities...
