The army and air force are used for directly attacking an enemy nation's homeland. China is a land power like Germany, France and USSR. Besides, the reason that navy was strong is that it is the "global commons". Well, space is also a "global commons".

However please note, military paradigm has drastically changed since 1805 Battle of Trafalgar.

After 1805, "land powers" (as you put it) have consistently been on the backfoot and consistently defeated.

For example, Germany lost because it lost the war on seas. It failed to supply its troops overseas, and it failed to get enough fuel to run its "land power".

I can go on and on, about other "land powers".

If you talk about wars before 1805, then you are right.
After 1805-2015, it is totally different.

Now who knows if this paradigm based on Naval power is over and the next war will be under different model such as "Space being global common".

Me thinks the role of space will complement naval power and not replace it.

Excellent, well said, couldn't have said it better to be honest. I also said the same thing on here before. Its really surprising to see Chinese members here even comparing themselves with a small poor nation like Vietnam. lool Its just hilarious to be honest. The only difference is that the British have had a long time legacy of great Naval Prowess in modern history.

Britain has an unprecedented naval history , whose power was unrivaled for almost 3 centuries. China , specifically the PLAN, is largely untested in an extra-hemispherical condition and have largely remained within their borders for most of the PRC's and the PLAN's existence. They have had no experience or exposure to combating a large naval military force or have experience in a combined land - naval expeditionary mission.

The only Navy in Asia, specifically the Pacific Region, that has a history and legacy of this, as well as carrier based warfare is the Japanese Maritime Defense Force, which is the Legacy of the Great Imperial Japanese Navy [Dai Nippon Teikoku Kaigun]

Also don't forget that all modern Japanese naval assets rely on the foreign technologies.

The Kongo and Atago classes all rely on the US Aegies electronic systems and the US gas turbine technology.

The Soryu also rely on the Swedish Stirling technology.

China's anti-submarine capabilities are improving with the type 056A corvettes and type 056A frigates with their strong ASW capabilities (hull mounted sonar, towed array sonar, variable depth sonar and ASW helicopter) and now China is inducting the Y-8FQ/GX-6 Maritime Patrol Aircraft. China has learnt pretty much all there is to know in conventional submarines from Russia through reverse engineering and espionage. That's why China no longer buys Russian conventional submarines anymore. No point in buying submarine technology that is similar to Chinese conventional submarine technology and even if Russia has new technologies, it won't make much of difference as China is technologically advancing faster than Russia can get ahead.

China's technological advancement and industrial capability, not to mention the already large and growing budget makes it impossible for any Asian country to keep up with China.
