Vietnam's Kilo-class submarines a serious threat to China

These guys are deluding themselves if they think that China will stick to its weakest point - navy - and not use our ground, air and space forces, where we are strong. Of course, the PLAN is only relatively weak - it is still more than a match for 100 Vietnams.

Precisely
what do you expect from that internet think tank?

Vietnam is not even a major naval power. Why compare to such a , relatively speaking, weak nation?

The Vietnamese have impressive capabilities in homeland / territorial defense , excellent guerilla capabilities.

But in regards to naval power? Come on. Their entire navy is not even the size of 1/4th of Japan's 1st Escort Fleet. LOL.

Why do you Chinese want to compare the great PLAN to such a relatively weak navy, the Viet Navy ?

.
The only difference is that the British have had a long time legacy of great Naval Prowess in modern history.

Britain has an unprecedented naval history , whose power was unrivaled for almost 3 centuries. China , specifically the PLAN, is largely untested in an extra-hemispherical condition and have largely remained within their borders for most of the PRC's and the PLAN's existence. They have had no experience or exposure to combating a large naval military force or have experience in a combined land - naval expeditionary mission.

The only Navy in Asia, specifically the Pacific Region, that has a history and legacy of this, as well as carrier based warfare is the Japanese Maritime Defense Force, which is the Legacy of the Great Imperial Japanese Navy [Dai Nippon Teikoku Kaigun]

Nihonjin bhai jaan

Very Well said.

Mighty Japanese Navy is something that is awe inspiring even today (at least for us the Fauj (military) historians).

Chinese Navy has years if not decades to go before it becomes a credible force around the world (at the level of WW-2 Japanese navy, or a modern force like US navy).

However the context here is specific to large modern navies like US vs. Chinese navy.

For smaller countries that border China such as Vietnam, such comparison does not hold. One side is too big, too strong both militarily and economically (even if population was somehow similar).

peace.

It is funny
It was the Viets who were trying to show muscles and later joined by the support of the Japanese in text and photos

We were posting photos of our Rescue Mission
Hahaha

In modern wars, superior navy is the first requirement. army and airforce come second and third.

Even though many of my fellow countrymen may disagree, I hold the view that WW-2 saw those countries defeated whose navies were no longer able to protect the sea-lanes and then the home land.

.
And i was posting a picture of a small naval parade. lol.

See how Japan is peaceful? We only parade around nowadays.

Correct bhai @FaujHistorian , in modern warfare, in an offensive war to be exact, the factor that counts is a nation's navy. A well tested, regulated, and highly inter-operable navy succeeds over a navy that may have size, but may have have poor interoperability and lack of critical experience.

Experience is the key here.

.
who cares about Japanese parade photos when it is a matter between 2 sovereign countries, China and Vietnam
It is none of Japan's business

In modern wars, superior navy is the first requirement. army and airforce come second and third.

But we are talking about a "moot" war between Vietnam and China arent we?
Though the belligerent Japanese are itching for a fight

the japanes is just contradicting his points
first by saying the posting of " navy parade ' photos only
then link to japanese best excuse to get involved in the war

ridiculous

Correct. See my post #19 that mentions this point specifically.

In case you forgot, you lost, if the criteria is just to partake, than China should dig Saddam out of his grave to consult, as he took on America twice with the same result as the Japanese.

The PLAAF and PLA are not the PLAN.

Naval wise, it PLAN has never engaged in a major operation aside from exercises.

The ROCN at least tried to resist the Imperial Navy before it was annihilated by the Nihon Kaigun.

If we are to include loses than ROCN has a lot of defected soldiers and officers, so PLAN is really a continuation of them.

Can we Dock our Akula 2 in Cam Ranh Bay in future ?

Our Vietnamese friends :D
Dock all you like. The minute you make it into East Asia you will find every country has a higher standard of living and an opinion of themselves, might damper the ego you guys built up in South Asia.

Read the title, may have a clue or two.

Japan and her relevant allies in the NATO, USA, UN + ASEAN will not tolerate a war in the region that will upset trade. Any thing that will disrupt the free trade and free navigation of ships through the South China Sea Region will merit the critical response of all affected international parties.

I doubt any power will risk such a response. I doubt any nation in the Far East will risk a critical response for such little political gain.

The odds are not in her favor.

.
Correct. See my post #19 that mentions this point specifically.

Yes clearly stated
In a war between Vietnam and China, the belligerent Japanese will definitely participate in
All they have been camourflaging themselves as "pacifists" are ridiculous

Well, since this past May, the JMSDF has been making regular rounds to Vietnam and wit this recent military exercises with the Philippine Navy, i think its evident that Japan is committed to maintaining peace and security in the region. I do hope that there will be no war in Southeast Asia.

Ultimately we would like peace, stability and free navigation in the region.

We expect our friends in China, Vietnam, Philippines to see things eye to eye.
