Vietnam vice minister apologizes to Japan for “$2 Billion loan” gaffe

We all know Chinese-SK-JPese believe that we (VN and other native South East Asia) r lower race than them

I never once said that you or other Southeast Asians are of a lower race , nor do I believe any Korean poster ever said such pernicious statements about a particular group of people. The mere fact that you, a Vietnamese, would say such says much about yourself.

@AgentOrange , @TaiShang , @sEoulman556 , @Aegis DDG , @Red Mahura , @Chinese-Dragon , do you read this this ridiculous statement?

Strong VN will be the big trouble for China-JP, just like we will beat JP easily on Agriculture and fishing products when we join TPP.

LOL. Dude, our economy is $5 Trillion. There is no comparison between Japan and your country. Our economy is 28 x that of Vietnam's. Go back to your ridiculous fantasy. Japan is the largest investor of Vietnam, our mere presence in Vietnam creates and generates thousands of jobs for the common Vietnamese. You understand that we account for over 30% of all FDIs in your country? Its not vice versa.

Welcome to the club @Nihonjin1051 now you know how we feel when having a debate with them

I've had great discussions with members like @Viet , @Carlosa , @Rent et al, but some of the things that @NiceGuy is saying and propagating here is borderline histrionic. I mean, he keeps on talking about how Japan and China is the barrier for Vietnam unifying a "Submekong" State? What the heck.

I have to bite my tongue from saying anything upsetting.:hitwall:

Trust me, China is a barrier otherwise they would have taken Guangdong by now as they believe we Cantonese are Viets

lol, i hope he wasn't being serious.

For them to say that Viets believe that Cantonese are Vietnamese is a complete distortion of the issue.

What Viets say is that south china was the ancestral home of the Vietnamese people (and that's a historical fact) which had to migrate south to present day north Vietnam under pressure from the Hans that were invading and taking over those territories from the north.

we have been paid back all debt in Ruble, bro, in 1999, when Russia currency is in crisis and was devaluated. The ruble lost 70% of its value against the U.S. dollar in the six months following this financial crisis. :pop:
So it seem like we will pay back fully the debt to JP when Yen lose 70 % like Soviet union right ??

U only create thousand jobs in VN when we even restored a collapse nation like Cambodia from the hell of Pol Pot, but do Cambodian really say thanks to us ?? Or they still keep shouting all day and night that VN wanna annex Cambodia ??

So, dont play the old trick wt VN, we've played that trick to other nations long before u know abt it.

Fortunately for us the $32 Billion we have poured into Vietnam is in US Dollars. I'm sure that we have confidence in the Vietnamese Government to honor this. :)

How is Cambodia even related to the issue of Vietnam ? Please stick to the subject matter.

Your ODA 'help' to VN is just like our 'help' to Cambodia .

Just give up already will you? It's not just @NiceGuy who have unmasked the Japanese ODA dirty trick. Even some UK and Chinese members here have agreed with him.

And your attitude towards the Vietnamese demanding them to be grateful is just the same as the colonists or slave owners. Did you watch that "Roots" video clip I've previously embedded? In the novel "Roots", the attitude of the slave owners was that the slaves owe them gratitudes because the slave owners had given the slaves work, food on their table and a roof over their head. How dare the slaves not be thankful? How dare the Vietnamese not be thankful for the jobs created? this slave owner mentality is :bad:

@NiceGuy, your views regarding "aid" are well discussed in the academic literature. Many scholars and economists agree with you. Even this cartoon here explains what you've been saying:

The only difference is that theres not gonna be any terrorists rising up in VN. The ODA will just keep VN poor and in debt, so that the cycle of "aid" and exploitation will continue.

No, we dont pay back, just like we didnt back back all debt to Soviet, JP also know that. But their goal is to keep VN in poor wt corrupted Govt. so that they can call us 'Clods'. ODA is just small 'fee' for their goal

You will still pay some, but not all. Their goal is to always keep you in debt so that you will always depend on aid and ODA. I hope VietNam will find a way to play this game against them.

Japanese ODA was a ball-and-chains around Chinese development whose damage has only started to be repaired after 2005 or so. The thing about Japanese ODA is that you can only use it to hire Japanese contractors - it is essentially the government of the recipient subsidizing that of Japan.

Foreign investment itself was never more than a fraction of Chinese GDP and out of foreign investment, most was from Hong Kong (before it returned). Almost none of the foreign investment resulted in significant technology transfer and indeed, most of it has crippled the affected sectors. Just look at automobiles, which has significant foreign investment, with telecom hardware, which has very little. Automobiles are still far behind the rest of the world while telecom hardware is already world class and only getting better. All non-emergency aid is a scam designed to keep pliable politicians in power and to build up countries as punching bags, ODA is no different.

Some people think that those Japanese ODA to China was a sufficient war reparation repayment.

ODA is great for the lenders to charge interest, and for the borrowers to swindle, but the Japanese guy should not bitch about how grateful Vietnam must be to the Orient Master. ODA must be repaid no doubt, plus interest. It's not free money. Future generations will carry this yoke on their shoulders and repay to the Japanese tax payers.

In any case we have to pay back, bro, we have to keep our words. This is prestige of our nation.

I don't believe that rate exchange of Yen/US$ will be fell so much, but with Abenomic polycy afer 20 year (it is the grace lending time of ODA Loan from Japan) the rate exchange of Yen/US$ should be 125 Yen/1 Dollar is ok.:pop:
