Vietnam Ready to Host Russian Maritime Base.

Can they share it with India ?:D , if possible we will have couple of P8Is , Attack subs , destroyers with Super Sukhois based there , not to mention defensive/offensive Brahmos that can counter any aggression we too can offer better security and promising relationship to our Vietnam brothers .

I don´t think that is possible for India to have a permanent navy base in Vietnam. That may be changed in the future.
But at present Indian Navy can anchor at Cam Ranh Bay if your country wants to have some maintenance services from Vietnam companies there.

To be honest; China-Vietnamese fiasco is a tragedy. The previous conflict proved this. And once again! The drums are rolling.

How much blood both Vietnamese and Chinese will spill over before coming to terms through diplomatic channels?

As a Pakistani, I fully understand the horrors of war. No matter how much shiny toys a nation has, war brings death and destruction and untold misery. The so-called WOT have inflicted so much pain and suffering that it is hard to describe. Pakistan is currently in a deep turmoil with a chunk of its military forces exhausted.

In the end, Vietnam and China will hurt each other in another (useless) war and outsiders will be the real winners.

Sanity should prevail. Both Vietnam and China are sensible nations and can end this row through diplomatic means.

You know, the problem is hard to be overcome. Both China and Vietnam claim the entire South China Sea. Both are willing to go over this issue to a war. Personally, I think both parties should agree on a 50-50 solution.

Vietnam claims Paracels and the Spratlys, and what the extent of 200 nautical miles from the coast of Vietnam. Meanwhile China claims "nine dotted line" the entire 80% SCS, close to the coast of Malaysia, Brunei, Philippines, and Scarborough Shoal of the Philippines ...

Vietnam's claims are completely different from the China's claims. Vietnam has sufficient historical evidences, historical basis, legal basis, actual basis to support our claims, while China does not have any historical basis, legal basis and factual basis for its claims.

Who can accept the "nine dotted line"?

No, bro. Islands belong to Vietnam from old time. China is just claimed it unfairly, recently.

Hanoi has had many names throughout history, all of them of Sino-Vietnamese origin. During the Chinese domination of Vietnam, it was known first as Long Biên, then Tống Bình (Chinese: 宋平, Sòngpíng, "Song Peace") and Long Đỗ (Chinese: 龍肚, Lóngdù, "Dragonbelly"). In 866, it was turned into a citadel and named Đại La (Chinese: 大羅, Dàluó, "Big Net").

In 1010, Ly Thai To, the first ruler of the Lý Dynasty, moved the capital of Đại Việt to the site of the Đại La Citadel. Claiming to have seen a dragon ascending the Red River, he renamed the site Thăng Long (昇龍, "Rising Dragon") - a name still used poetically to this day. Thăng Long remained the capital of Đại Việt until 1397, when it was moved to Thanh Hóa, then known as Tây Đô (西都), the "Western Capital". Thăng Long then became Đông Đô (東都), the "Eastern Capital."

In 1408, the Chinese Ming Dynasty attacked and occupied Vietnam, changing Đông Đô's name to "Eastern Gateway" (Chinese: 東關, Dōngguān), Đông Quan in Vietnamese. In 1428, the Vietnamese overthrew the Chinese under the leadership of Lê Lợi, who later founded the Lê Dynasty and renamed Đông Quan Đông Kinh (東京, "Eastern Capital") or Tonkin. Right after the end of the Tây Sơn Dynasty, it was named Bắc Thành (北城, "Northern Citadel").

-- China did own your capital city for a couple of times. Who knows whether its name will change again in future?

Isn't that a wet dream of thousand of generations of the Chinese? Wake up, boy!

January 30, 1789, we killed most of a 200,000 invaders who wanted to invade Hanoi.
Who knows this would not happen if the Chinese troops come to Hanoi again?

At dawn on the fifth day of Tet (January 30, 1789), Tay Son forces approached the fort of Ngoc Hoi, at Dong Da in the southern part of Hanoi, and came under heavy enemy fire. Elite commandos assaulted the fortress in groups of 20, protected under wooden shields covered by straw soaked in water. Quang Trung exhorted his troops from atop an elephant. Following intense fighting, the Tay Son emerged victorious; large numbers of Chinese, including general officers, died in the attack.

Sun Shiyi learned of the disaster that same night. With fires clearly visible in the distance, he fled north across the Red River, not bothering to put on his armor or saddle his horse. Qing horsemen and infantry soon joined the flight, but the bridge they used was overburdened and collapsed. According to Vietnamese accounts thousands drowned, and the Red River was filled with bodies

Battle of Hanoi

Sorry Hanoi belongs to China and Saigon belongs to Cambodia :azn:
